Vehicle Detail
Up for .auction is a true garage find. It is a 500cc 1970 Triumph Trophy T100C. The bike has been stored inside since 1981. It was last inspected in 1979 and last registered in 1981. The 500cc T100C's were sold as scramblers with upswept pipes coming down the left side, foldable front and rear foot pegs and a skid plate. The foot pegs and skid plate are still on the bike. It is a numbers matching bike. Engine number matches the frame number. It is complete except for the speedometer and the horn. It was stored with no gas and the inside of the tank is very nice. I changed the engine oil, transmission oil, chain case oil. I installed a new battery, replaced the rear tire and installed a new chain and rear sprocket. After cleaning the carb and making sure that fresh oil was pumping through the engine. we kicked it over. After several kicks, the engine started and ran for several minutes before being shut down. The next day, it started easily and I rode it about a mile without any problems. It has good power and the clutch and transmission work as they should. The engine does not smoke or leak any oil and has good power. Before it was stored, the previous owner removed the original up-swept exhaust system and replaced it with straight pipes. I have 2 original mufflers that go with the bike but I don't know if they were the mufflers that came with the bike. The straight pipes are not that loud but I plan the install the mufflers on the bike. The gas tank has a minor ding on the top. The tank's inside is great with no rust. The outside of the tank does have some minor surface rust. The pet cocks work fine and do not leak. New fuel lines were installed. The handlebars have been changed sometime in the past. The speedometer and the horn are missing but are available online. All the lights and switches work fine. The brake light switches both on the front brake and the rear brake work fine. The rear tire and rear sprocket have been replaced. The front tire needs to be replaced due to age. The original rims are in good shape with very little surface rust. The original fenders are still on the bike and in good shape. The front fender does have a minor dent that can be tapped out. The seat appears to be original and is in good shape with no rips or tears. The wiring harness has not been cut or altered. The bike still has it's original skid plate still on it. The bottom line is this is a original bike with almost all the original parts still on it. The bike could be restored easily or could be ridden as is. I have not done a real cleaning on the bike. I only washed off several layers of dust. If someone is looking for a classic English bike to restore this could be the one. It could be brought back to it's original glory without the usual problems. If there are any questions, please ask. ;
