Vehicle Detail
1961 Cadillac 2 Door – 20,251 Original Miles. My father purchased this car in 1974 from the original owner who kept it in a garage and did not drive it. Dad drove it even less making him the second owner of this garage queen. The car has not been started since about 1978 which was the last year it was licensed. It has sat in a heated “garage” if you will – in the basement of the house. House sits on hill with driveway entrance into basement. The photos tell the story. Layers of dust. One photo shows “rust” on driver’s side front fender but that appears to be rust from a leaking water pipe above. Interior and headliner are like new. Odometer is actual. Paint is actually in nice condition. Bumpers have minor pitting from normal oxidation. Tires are flat from sitting and are likely the original tires that came on the car. We will not attempt to start the car for fear of causing damage. I assure you it ran like new the last time it was started. Car is located in Toledo, Ohio. Being sold to settle estate. Seller will not ship – buyer pick up only. On Dec-10-16 at 10:29:35 PST, seller added the following information: 12-10-2016 Update - I added a couple of photos of the trunk (looks like original spare), engine and tags or ID plates for those that requested. Requests to sell outside of auction will not be responded to. I also am unable to meet with interested parties for individual showings or answer with phone calls due to volume of requests. The car is represented as it truly is. I neglected to check glove compartment today for owner's manual. My dad would most likely have had it there. I did verify the rust showing on the top of drivers side fender is from a rusty pipe above the car. There is no rust on any quarters or fenders or wheel wells. It is solid. I will attempt to answer all questions that I can answer and will share on the listing for all to view. Thank you for your interest. On Dec-11-16 at 08:37:41 PST, seller added the following information: Question was asked about condition of tires and access to the garage. I neglected to post so all could see. Here is response: No attempts have been made to inflate tires. It is fairly tight in garage. I believe a strong air compressor with long hose will be necessary to inflate. These seem to be the original tires on the car and are totally flat from sitting so I can't tell you they will hold air. I believe there is enough access to change the tires, though tight. The driveway curves prior to entrance to garage so it will be a little tight getting a tow truck all the way to the garage. The car just needs to go from garage to end of straight part of driveway - about 30 feet. Perhaps a floor jack and inserting tire dollies would make the job easy.On Dec-12-16 at 07:28:40 PST, seller added the following information: I will be going to the house to attempt to air up the tires, check for Owner's Manual in glove box and to also check the oil and take photo of dipstick and will post an update for all.On Dec-13-16 at 18:29:12 PST, seller added the following information: Latest update - we have a roller! All four tires took and are holding air. The owner's manual was in the glove box in its plastic case - like brand new - along with a couple other accessories books. The oil was full on the dipstick and not dark at all. I have photos of a tire aired up, the owners manuals and a nice close up of the oil on dipstick on a white paper towel. Unfortunately EBay limits you to 24 photos and will not allow me to delete photos to add these 3 additional new ones. If you would like me to email you the three photos please message your email address to me. With the tires holding air there should be no problem getting the car backed up and onto a trailer. Thanks and good luck bidding. On Dec-13-16 at 18:44:03 PST, seller added the following information: One additional note. I discovered a few receipts - the car had Ziebart rust protector applied to it. Undercoating. Also a battery, alignment and muffler.
