Vehicle Detail

This 1960 Austin Healy Bugeyed Sprite has been lovingly reengineered into the incredible car it is today. This Sprite has been a California car most of its existence, since I cannot account for its first 11 years. I purchased it from a friend in 1981, and he had it for 10 years before that. It has gone through many changes in the 35 years I have had it. From a mostly stock, 1275cc Austin engine to a 2.0 liter Pinto engine, to a 2.8 liter Capri engine (with nitrous then turbo) to V8 it has today. This car took me 5 years to completely rebuilt, that was 12 years ago. With this complete rebuild, it received the following modifications / additions: 1) Extra framing and other structure was added that stiffened up the car dramatically, 2) The Rover 3.5 liter engine was rebuilt and massaged to put out around 200 HP (seat of the pants dyno) . Match ported intake runners, ported and polished exhaust ports, polished and cc’d chambers, Crane 450/460 lift cam, Crane roller rockers, 9.6:1 compression, balanced rotating assembly, ceramic coated pistons, chambers, valves, exhaust ports and headers. Offenhauser intake topped with a Holley HP-Pro series 390 CFM double pump carb, 10qt trap door oil pan (so the oil pump doesn’t starve while cornering hard) 3) Lightened steel billet flywheel, Centerforce clutch assembly, McLeod hydraulic clutch release 4) NEW World Class T5 5 speed transmission with less than 3000 miles since install. 5) 4:10 limited slip differential (86 RX7 Turbo) 6) The rear suspension and cradle (96 RX7 Turbo, narrowed and shortened independent rear suspension) attaches directly to the added framing and original Sprite spring mounts stiffening the body more. 7) 4 wheel disc brakes (RX7 Turbo). 8) Flowmaster 40 series mufflers (quieter mufflers that take 10 minutes to bolt up included). 9) Remove 4 bolts and replace the racing wind screens with the big factory wind screen (included). 10) remove the roll bar and a factory soft top or hard top will fit (not included).11) Replace the street tires and wheels with the race tires and wheels and go SOLO2 racing (race tires and wheels included) This car is a lot of fun on the street and for Solo2 racing, as seen in the video. It won first in its class in the 2012 Coronado Speed Festival car show and “Best Engineered English Car” at the 2012 English Motors at Fairbrook. I have had a neck surgery so I won’t be going around corners fast any more. This car was built to be driven. www.dailyturismo.com/2012/09/dt-roadkillseller-sub-1960-austin.html There are plenty more pitures, please request specifics.
