Vehicle Detail
The time has come to sell my 1976 CB 550F Café Racer. This bike is a one of a kind. A head turner everywhere I go! Has a mildly aggressive cam from a CB650 in it. Once the cam was installed, the carbs were re-tuned (including the velocity stacks) and higher flow exhaust was installed to help the engine breathe. Carbs were synchronized as well. The velocity stacks have special waterproof covers on them to mitigate the negative effects of dust, dirt, debris and water. Brakes are all fresh, all fluids (including forks) are fresh, new clutch, chain, sprockets, spark plugs, and all leaking seals have all been replaced. One seal that is pesky and still weaping a bit is the left fork seal. It was replaced but the fork has a few minor scratches that need smoothed out next time. Regulator/rectifier was replaced with a solid state version and new blade style fuses installed. This helps the battery hold a charge and makes it act like a newer bike (electrically). Bike starts with push button or kick-start! The gauges are out of a CB650 and have been modified to include LED halo lights inside; as have the indicator lights. The handlebars and mirrors were swapped out to a café racer style. The seat pan and cushion were custom designed and fabricated using aircraft aluminum (professionally TIG welded). The paint is HOK "Persimmon" with black accent stripes/decals (painted in 2010). Inside of the tank is rust free. Entire bike was stripped down to bare metal and professionally re-painted in 2010. Modified the front chain/engine cover with hand drilled holes for weight reduction and traditional café racer design. Tires have three riding seasons on them (less than 5,000 miles). Bike has around 25,000 original miles on it. I custom built the baffles inside the muffler and tuned it by packing with steel wool between layers with a blacksmithed insert welded in. The front headlight has a blue LED halo (switchable on/off) and the bike has blue LED accents throughout. Front headlight has a waterproof on/off toggle switch (defaults to high beam). This bike sounds very, very nice!! No turn signals (hands only!). A true piece of American history here! Head turner every time. Everyone loves to stop and talk about it :-) Happy bidding! Price is reduced for fall; no reserve!! Get yourself a new toy for this fall while the weather is still nice!!
