1931 Ford Model A Roadster. TOUR READY. Nice! See VIDEO 1931 Ford Model A Roadster Sold new in Pasadena, California to a school teacher, this 1931 "A" Roadster remained with the original owner until 1960. It was then acquired by another Californian who performed a full restoration in the 1970's. The current owner in Oregon acquired it in 1990 (the previous owner was the best-man at his wedding) and he has enjoyed it ever since. The only reason for selling is to make room in his garage. 63,200 miles now showing on the odometer are believed to be correct original mileage, with less than 4,000 miles since the engine rebuild and restoration. The restoration presents nicely today, as attested to by the photos, which were just taken for this listing. NO RUST. Two-tone blue paint with straw-colored pinstriping and wheels, it is a spiffy combination. Paint has recently been detailed and polished. Body paint is very nice with minimal signs of age. There is one very small dent on the top of the right rear quarter panel (see photo) by the rumble seat which can be left as is or repaired by the new owner. It does not detract from the overall beauty of the car, but I do want to mention it. Some small chips touched-up on the fenders. Chrome and trim are very nice and bright. Replaced running board mats. Fully restored interior. Upholstery is supple with no rips or tears. Top was replaced at the time of restoration and is serviceable as is. One small repaired tear noted. Folding rear window. Full set of side curtains included which are in new condition. Nicely optioned with dual sidemounted spare tires, Quail radiator cap and trunk rack. Working windshield wiper. Mechanically, this "A" is excellent. Rebuilt original 4 cylinder engine. Leakless water pump. Runs cool in all weather. Does not overheat. Runs smooth and strong with no smoke or issues. (Please SEE VIDEO.) All gauges work. 6 volt Optima battery. Rebuilt front end tracks straight with no shimmy. Rebuilt rear-end with 3.55:1 gears, making this an excellent tour car that will keep up with modern traffic. Cruises comfortably at 55 mph on the highway. Rebuilt original brake system. Stops smooth and straight. Newer tires with less than 500 miles on them. I have personally driven this "A" over 50 miles and it is a real pleasure, offering more "smiles per gallon" than just about anything else on the road. All told, this is a wonderful Model A Roadster from what many consider to be the finest year of production. It is ready to go and I would not hesitate to jump in it tomorrow and drive on any long-distance tour with confidence. A reasonable reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its condition and WELL BELOW price guide values. It could certainly not be restored to this level today for the reserve asking price.
