Vehicle Detail
This 1970 442 was built right here in my home town of Framingham, Massachusetts at the old General Motors assembly plant. I bought the vehicle from a high school friend close to 25 years ago and have had it ever since. We used to watch the car running the quarter mile at New England Dragway back in the day. I would like to begin by telling you that this is an original 70 442 car not a clone or tribute car. It is nice to see so many people paying homage to the 442 but just to reiterate this is the original. the real thing. If you are going to spend your hard earned money buy a real one. It's only going to go up in value. The car has recently been freshened up with new paint, weatherstrips all around, tires, wheels, shocks, springs, carpet, window weather strips and more. The correct date coded 455 was rebuilt about 4500 miles ago using a very stout Mondello engine recipe tuned for street/strip. I spent countless hours discussing how to build the perfect 455 with the guys over at Berejik Olds in Needham, Mass just a few towns over. Berejik was synonymous with speed and victory in D/ and F/Stock drag racing around the country in the1960's and 70's, I knew if they approved it would be a killer set up. Using a 524 lift dual duration hydrolic street/strip cam, a cloyes double roller chain, roller rockers, Mallory electronic ignition, accel super coil and accel 8.8 mm race wires, 10.5 pistons to name a few. After a fresh bore the engine now displaces about 475 cubic inches. After some searching I finally found the rare set of 72 Ga W-30 heads with the hardend valve seats to use with todays unleaded fuel. Another rare piece I used is an offenhauser low rise dual quad set up sporting a pair of edlebrock competition series 500 cfm carbs with progressive linkage. Headers and a Flowmaster American thunder 3" exhaust system help it breath. The car has that pro touring stance using new eibach springs sitting 1" lower than stock and sports 18" front and 20" wheels out back. Handles a whole lot better now. I do have the car for sale locally so the auction could end early. please feel to ask anything you need. Thank you and good luck.
