Vehicle Detail
For sale is an extremely original 1970 F250 with 72,059 ORIGINAL miles on the truck. This truck has the highly sought after Ranger XLT & Camper Special packages which add the chrome siding and wood accents. The Ranger XLT chrome makes this model look wonderful and makes this truck much more desirable. This truck also has factory air conditioning which has been converted to R134 and works great. I purchased this truck from the original owner’s estate about 2.5 years ago in San Diego CA. The truck spent its life in Utah and was only transferred to San Diego after the son’s father passed and he had it sent to his home, never titling the vehicle. To say that this truck is a time capsule is an understatement. I have purchased many classic vehicles in my time and always look for good quality. This exceeded my expectations in every way and I would classify it as in exceptional original condition for a 46 year old truck. The interior looks almost new. The dash is absolutely mint. The truck wears all its original body panels. The hood had a re-spray later in its life which according to the son had to do with his father waxing the vehicle and the paint thinning after 40+ years. The vehicle has always been garaged and even now it sits in my garage while my wife’s Lexus LS460 sits under the carport. It is just that nice and I don’t want heat or sun to ruin the perfect dash (amazing) and/or fade any of the original interior. The truck still has the original 390 engine. Prior to driving it from San Diego to Dallas I had a San Diego speed shop put a new Edelbrock manifold and Edelbrock 650CFM carburetor on the engine. This provided better power and better reliability than the existing 2 barrel carburetor. They added a chrome air cleaner. Because I was driving it over 1400 miles back to Dallas I had them replace both exhaust manifolds before my trip. I still have the original carburetor and manifold parts as I wanted them to remain with the truck should someone want to make it all original. All told, I left $4500 at that Speed Shop for parts and labor. One of the cool things about this truck is the first owner converted the A/C to R134. I was surprised at how well the A/C worked. This was the first time I had seen an all original A/C in this type of truck and it looks wonderful with the Ranger XLT package. As stated earlier the entire interior is in wonderful condition with the exception of one very very small crack starting on the driver’s side seat which is very minimal (shown in picture). Another very cool detail is the American Eagles etched into both the driver’s side and passenger side window which is a “period correct” original detail. The body is in great shape. The red paint still looks wonderful. The truck did have a camper top on it which I removed when I purchased it. I still have it and it will go with the truck if the new owner would like it. Because it had a topper on it for 43 years there is some wear of the paint where it attaches to the bed and the back window. I have detailed that in the pictures. Other than that there are a few very slight dings in the trim molding, but we need to keep in mind this is an original truck and 46+ years old. This truck does not have rust and as I said is probably the cleanest original truck I have ever had and I have owned many. The truck runs great and the previous owner had completed brake work prior to my ownership (receipts included). While getting the truck ready for my San Diego to Dallas trip I also had a transmission shop check out the trans and the rear end to make sure everything was A-OK. They were impressed with the condition of the truck and said the entire transmission and 3.73 gears were good to go. Overall this is a wonderful truck and the only reason I am selling, is I plan to move to Kansas City in a few months and I do not want this truck to touch salt or snow. It is entirely too nice to do anything else but live in a dry climate and provide a period correct example of what a 1970 Ranger XLT Camper Special F250 looked like when it was new. They will only be original once and I am of the opinion this shows exceptionally well and should be preserved by someone who can appreciate it. That being said please remember this is a 45 year old truck and while in wonderful condition it is not perfect. Please feel free to contact me with questions. Since I travel I prefer e-mail but can setup a time to call and discuss any aspect of the truck. This truck is a beauty and someone should be very proud to own it. My father in-law is 70+ years old and bought one of these new and he can’t get over how well preserved this truck is. ATTENTION: This truck was sold last year by a bidder who not only made a direct offer but a counter offer and then did not ever respond or contact me. I still had to pay fees as though the truck had been sold. PLEASE have all your funds approved and secured or DO NOT bid. It takes time and money to list a vehicle and I would ask that bidders respect the process. Good luck with the auction. A $500 deposit will be required within 48 hours. For the remaining balance the ONLY forms of payment will be cash or certified check. If by certified check all funds must clear my bank before the truck leaves the property. I encourage both individual and/or professional inspections and for you to ask any questions. Shipping will be your responsibility and I will help accommodate a shipping company of your choice.
