International buyers please contact me first before placing a bid. 1974 Suzuki GT750 barn find project bike that I purchased in the summer of 2008 wanting to have another 74 GT750 again just like the one I owned and sold back in the '70s. I am the second owner of this bike. I purchased the bike as a project bike not knowing what it may or may not need. I can't recall the exact dollar amount that I spent getting it to where it currently is, but if I was to guess I would say it was somewhere over $2,500 that I spent for new and used oem parts from Ebay and other sources to bring it back to what you see now as well as making it drivable. I can tell you that I put countless hours into replacing any part that didn't look acceptable or didn't look almost new, with the exception of the dent in the gas tank, the chip in the radiator cover and dent in the points cover. My goal was to initially make it look great, get it running to later fully restore it to make it look like new. I completed two of those tasks: I got it running and made it look great. I replaced everything except the engine. Really, believe it or not it's true, anything that didn't pass my strict standards of looking close to new meant it had to be replaced. I need to point out that even the speedometer had to be replaced because the speedometer needle moved erratically, so the mileage seen on the speedometer is incorrect since it was replaced, the actual mileage is approximately 12,000. When I got it, it had approximately 11,800 miles on its original speedometer. I put around 200 miles on it since it was re-titled. As far as how it last ran, drove and worked, here's what I remember. After getting it running and drivable, I licensed, tagged it and titled it. I drove it off and on for several months putting somewhere around 200 miles or so. From what I remember it ran and drove great, but the last time I started it, sometime several winters ago, I noticed it running poorly on the far right cylinder leaving me to believe that it had a bad right crank seal. I assume that the colder weather revealed the crank seal problem since I didn't notice it during the summer, obviously because the crank seal contracts in cold weather and expands in warm weather. Anyway, I purchased a new crank seal kit and gasket kit in the hopes of rebuilding the engine. Not having the available time and place to work on it that I once had back in 2008, I placed it in storage where it's been for the last 8 years since 2008. I added a picture of the original speedometer showing the original mileage of the bike before I had swapped it out to the current speedometer that is on the bike now.The first five pictures were taken back in 2008 before I put it in storage. The last 12 pictures were taken recently where it is in storage, the bike is dirty because I regularly spray all the metal and chrome parts with WD40 to protect it from rust. This is how I stored it, always indoors protected from the outside elements where its been for almost 8 years. Also I want to point out that the original exhaust system was replaced due to rust, I replaced it with an exhaust system from a 1975 GT750. In summery, I honestly don't want to sell it but don't have the time or place to be able to work on it anymore. At least 80% of the work has been completed on this bike. I truly believe this bike to have tremendous potential to be an awesome bike once the crank seal has been replaced. This motorcycle is being sold as a project bike not currently running, there is no warranty and is being sold "as is" Buyer is responsible for arranging their own shipping and all shipping related costs This bike along with all my other bikes are a couple of hours away from where I live in storage at my sisters farm. The zip code where the buyer will be picking it up is 22711 The bike comes with a clean title in my name. ****This bike comes with almost a thousand dollars in new and used spare parts not shown in any of the pictures along with the crank seals and gasket kit needed to fix it. It also will come with a new battery, the original owners manual and its two original Suzuki keys. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks for looking. On Jul-11-16 at 05:40:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Engine and frame have matching serial numbers Continental tires purchased new 8 years ago 200 miles since purchase, may have some dry rot, not sure, pictures of bike in storage show tires being flat but just needs air. On Jul-11-16 at 08:20:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I received a question if the shift indicator light was working, yes all gears, bike comes with a spare just in case. I received a question does the engine turn freely, yes it does. I received a question does the electric starter still work, yes it does. I received a question about the gas tank, it is solid, no holes, no rust through, only very light rust inside the tank, I regularly spray wd 40 inside the tank. I received a question does it have an air filter cleaner and what is the condition. Yes it does, the air cleaner filter is brand new including the bracket that goes over the foam filter. I received a question are the cylinder head bolts original or new. They are all brand new, all head bolts were replaced in 2008 with new oem Suzuki head bolts. Picture shows them being dirty, there just covered with wd40 and dust. On Jul-14-16 at 02:55:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I received a question about the matching numbers. What I was trying to convey was, this is the original engine that came with this bike from the factory and frame is the original frame that came from the factory with this engine. Thanks On Jul-15-16 at 09:31:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I received a question if whether I had checked the compression in each cylinder and if when I changed the head bolts, all of them did I remove the cylinder head, the answer is yes, I thoroughly cleaned both gasket surfaces, head and cylinder, and installed a new head gasket and torqued all head bolts in the exact order specified in the Suzuki GT750 service manual. As far as the compression test I never got around to doing a compression test so I can't definitively say it's a bad crank seal, I'm only guessing that's what it is based on the way it was running the last time I started it.
