Vehicle Detail
1964 Mercedes 230sl Auto. 90,000 km or 50,000 miles. Factory ivory with tan interior. Currently silver. A long stalled restoration. This car was actually a running a driving vehicle in the 1990's. It was taken in to a shop for a full restoration, but unfortunately it never happened. This is a pretty early car #9298, in its current state it rolls easily, tires hold air, and steers. A European model that had the large glass headlamps and speedo in Kilometers. The car was dismantled to begin body work, but as the years passed, and the car sat in storage and was moved about, several key items were misplaced. There is no engine or transmission. Rear bumper front and rear lamps, drivers side door panel and glass etc. Thankfully the parts are available, and engines cross over to a multitude of sedans and other cars in the Mercedes range so very easy to find.Nearly everything else is there however. The interior was stored indoors, so wood is good, as are gauges etc. Obviously some upholstery will still be needed, but most parts were bagged and accounted for. I also have the carpeting, and rubber seals that were removed. The body has no signs of collision or filler in hood or trunk. Hardtop and soft top frame are in good shape. Doors are nice. Front bumper in very good shape. Floors are pretty solid as are rockers, rust repair is needed to the channel that connects the rocker to the floor board. Trunk floor is good, but know that there will be rust repair required. This is a project car, there are fewer project Mercedes SL's out there, and a first year car is certainly worth saving. There is good value in the parts alone here, but would love to see it restored. These at quickly becoming a high value classic. I am open to reasonable offers. Sold with a bill of sale, Alberta does not issue titles. But I can get the bill of sale notorized if need be.Will sell anywhere in the world, but shipping arrangements are buyers responsibility. There are many good companies which can pick up here in Edmonton, we are a major city and many shippers serve our area. For overseas buyers, I would recommend a container shipping company.
