I've wanted one of these bikes since I was a kid. And I finally got it about 4 years ago. I found the bike in a warehouse in New Mexico, got it running, and rode it from time to time. For a video of the bike running, search youtube for "1962 BMW R69/S - Das Roterad Lebt!" As luck would have it, I was riding one day and the right carb gave away. I pushed the bike a long 1 1 /2 miles home, some of it uphill! I set about collecting the parts to get it going again - I imported the replacement carbs from Germany (my father-in-law is there and helped) - I got carbs, valve covers, tank rubber, etc. But I never got around to getting it back on the road again. The tank is a stock tank - it's a Hoechst tank, straight from the factory. I traced the bike - it came into Smiths in NY like so many did that decade. Any way, what you see in the pictures is what you get. With a little work, the bike can be running again and you can be enjoying a classic bike from days gone by.
