For sale is a 1974 Suzuki GT250. This model was sold from 1973 to 1975, and is mechanically almost the same as the earlier X6 Hustler, with the addition of the air scoop shroud for better cooling. It is a two-stroke twin with oil injection and a six-speed transmission. The GT250 was featured in the Nov/Dec 2013 Motorcycle Classics as a "future classic". The actual mileage, as listed (10,900), is higher than what shows in the picture of the odometer (5511), as I replaced a speedometer that wasn't working right. The mileage will likely be a little higher than in the picture, as I still ride it a couple times a week. Mechanically, the bike is sound. The engine has one-size over pistons in fresh bores, and it runs cleanly, for an old two-stroke (no smoke), better than my other GT250. All of the electrics work well. The tachometer works well up to between 6000 and 7000 rpm, then pegs until you let the revs drop. The petcock leaked, so I sealed the main and reserve channels to prevent it. It has to be in the "prime" position to run, and must be turned to any other position when not running. There are replacement petcocks on E-Bay if necessary. The side stand is missing. The tires have plenty of tread and work fine for riding, but they are old. The transmission and fork oil were recently changed, and the front brake caliper rebuilt, with new lines. The mufflers are solid and have little rust. Cosmetically, the bike is in reasonable shape for its 42 years. As you can see from the pictures, the chrome is fair, while there are a number of chips and one obvious scratch on the tank. The parts on the bike are all original, or NOS. The bike has a current clean title and registration in Arizona, as it is a rider. It will be reported to the state as sold once it is delivered. If you have any questions, please ask before you bid.
