Vehicle Detail
1969/70 Triumph T100C Trophy 500, title says 1969, but VIN translates to January 1970. Good riding condition; Fun ride, and attracts lots of attention! Runs nice. Idles nice. Starts good, one kick for prime, starts on 2nd kick. Adequate tires, (tread depths: Front 5.5mm, Rear 2mm); new Flat Slide PWK carb. Note that some controls are backwards on these old English bikes: Shift is on the RIGHT hand side! It had positive ground, but I re-wired it to conventional negative ground. It can be returned to original, I saved the original parts, Zener Diode, & misc. electrical, carb, etc. No speedometer mounted, (I have the working original, the drive and cable are bad) I fitted the bike with an electronic tach/hour meter that serves as a speedo. In high gear, approx. 4,000/5,000 RPM = highway speed, 2,600 rpm = approx. 27 MPH. When you shut the engine off, the tach becomes an hour/elapsed time meter, and can be programmed to remind you when to change oil. The headlight (hi an lo) and the tail light works, ,. No turn signals or brake light, . You can add these if you want. Front and Back brakes are good. (Remember: the Rear foot brake is on the LEFT!). New after-market headlight switch, a little chincy, but works. The old switch will be included in the box with the original carb, a new horn and relay, misc parts, see picture, etc. New clutch cable and throttle cable. Transmission shifts nicely. This bike is a nice fun ride. My rider is a 1969 Honda CB750-K0, and this 500 Triumph feels really light, very easy to maneuver compared to my bigger bike. I’m 74 years old, and just restore these old bikes for something to do during the winter. I think this bike will be a nice trouble-free rider that will catch people’s eye, and start lots of conversations. It is a Classic! Oh! By the way, it is fairly clean, but I do not spit polish! If you care to, go for it. It has some minor oil drips, looks like from oil line going into motor, hard to get at to tighten, and not causing a problem, so I left it! If you ride the old bikes, they get dirty, and a little oily. The chain is almost new, and the oiler is turned off, by recommendation. You hand oil the chain. The sprocket is good, teeth not curled. The paint is presentable, shiny, not original, and not show quality. The rockers have new ball pins. Compression is good, up around 130+ PSI. I just did a quick check to see if they were fairly even. Both plugs read good. Special tools included: cam pinion gear puller/installer and rotor pullers, etc . New SLA Battery. A shop manual and parts manual with hand notations comes with it. There are 2 new fuel tank decals included also, you can put them on if you want to. Buyer is responsible for all and any shipping, but I will give you the contact info for a shipper. I will hold for 45 days after auction ends - must be paid in full thru pay pal no later than 3 days of auction ends thank you happy bids! PS: I don’t know how to handle the title transfer, I’ll go to the Secretary of State office Monday and find out. I forgot to mention that I acid washed the fuel tank and coated it inside with 'Red Kote', so rust will be no problem! Always nice clean fuel. The reserve fuel valve is on the left, so easy to switch while rolling.
