Vehicle Detail

We originally purchased this truck to pull a vintage camp trailer. However, the trailer turned out to be way more work than we had anticipated. I'm hoping to find someone that will appreciate this great truck so they can restore it or use it as it is. As far as I can tell,it has never been wrecked or abused. I'm pretty sure the mileage is original. The floor mats, pedal pads, and general condition seem to indicate that the mileage is correct. I know it was parked for many years, probably under a shed or something similar because the paint and interior are relatively intact. I know it was purchased new locally at Curt & Hal's Dodge in Caldwell, ID, in November, 1965. That info was in the Owner's Manual, along with a notation that it had traveled less than 10,000 after 2 years. It was purchased to haul a camper, so it has the heavy duty suspension, limited slip rear axle, and power brakes. It's equipped with the great old 318 V8 and 4 speed transmission. I cleaned the carb, adjusted the valves, and replaced the valve cover gaskets. I also replaced the fuel pump. The truck has a new muffler and exhaust system. It has three gas tanks, but unfortunately the gas was left in them for too many years and the saddle tanks are going to have to be cleaned somehow or replaced. The cab tank actually rusted out, so I replaced it with a tank from a '66 Chevy pickup. I couldn't find another original tank. The Chevy tank works fine except the gauge reads in reverse. The original tank can be included in case it could be repaired. Other camper equipment includes a 110 volt power converter and trailer brake controller. I am currently driving this truck on a daily basis. The engine runs great and has plenty of power. The transmission shifts as tightly as a new one. The kingpins and steering linkage are all tight. The doors open and close smoothly, anyone that knows old Dodge trucks will find this a big plus. A nice thing about this truck is that it can be used right away, the minor things that need fixing could be done as time goes by. There are two places where the rust bug has gotten to the truck. One is the lower rear corner of the driver's door, probably from a plugged door drain. The other is the passenger side floorboard. There must be a place where the truck leaks rainwater and it collected there. The heater does not leak. Both rust holes could be easily repaired. As far as I can see, any other rust on the truck is just surface rust. I changed out the wheels to 16" because the 16.5" tires are hard to find. I will include the stock 16.5 wheels and tires with the truck. The truck has a clear Idaho title and is currently registered and driven. The truck will have to be picked up in Nampa, ID, or you can make arrangements to have it shipped wherever you like. If you live within 100 miles, I'd deliver it to you. Questions can be directed through eBay or you can text or call me at 208-585-7157. I don't always have my phone handy so I may not answer right away.
