Vehicle Detail

This Roadmaster has been our daily driver for the past seven years, and it has performed impressively during our ownership.  Equipped with the Corvette-derived LT1 350, this wagon has an amazing amount of power on tap.  This car also has the rare and desirable towing package, which adds a limited slip rear, along with oil and transmission coolers.  We are vintage trailer enthusiasts, and have used this car as a tow vehicle for our 1957 El Rey trailer over thousands of trouble-free miles.  It is very balanced and stable when towing, and climbs steep hills with ease.  We purchased the car from a relative of the original owner at 141,000 miles, and have maintained it religiously the entire time.  All of the towing maintenance intervals were followed, including regular transmission fluid and rear differential services every 15,000 miles.  I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil exclusively, and change it every 3000 miles.  The original owner used the car to travel between Indiana and Florida in her retirement, so almost all of the miles are highway.  The paint is original, and the car has always been stored in a carport or garage.  It is hand washed and waxed regularly.  This car has a very rare factory CD player, and it is functional.   We have a detailed maintenance file on the car from day one, including the original window sticker, invoice, and special order forms.  The transmission was rebuilt at 118,000 miles, and a shift kit and higher stall torque converter were installed at that time by the previous owner.  AC system was rebuilt at 78,000 miles, and still blows ice cold.  We have never had to add refrigerant, and regularly drive in the 100 plus degree desert heat.  Major front end service was completed at 188,000, including new lower ball joints, upper control arms, idler arms, and front shocks.  The rear shocks were replaced at the same time, and the air ride leveling system is fully operational, with no leaks.  Custom dual exhaust was installed by the previous owner, and has Flowmaster 40's, as well as a crossover pipe and Magnaflow resonators.  It sounds mean, but the resonators eliminate the drone at highway speeds.  We also had a custom steel fuel tank fabricated when the original plastic one developed a crack.  It has all the correct baffles inside, and runs a stock fuel pump and sending unit.  Opti Spark unit was replaced at 191,000 miles, along with the ignition wires, spark plugs, vacuum hoses, and water pump.  The 96 models used an improved vented Opti-spark unit, which was far superior to the earlier version.  I also have a spare Opti-Spark unit that goes with the car.  Alternator replaced at 196,000 miles, and the fuel pump was changed at 191,000 miles.  The car does have wear consistent with a well-maintained, high mileage car.  The drivers seat has significant wear on the bolster, and the woodgrain is faded on the tailgate and left quarter.  As with most of these cars, the fake wood trim that frames the appliqué is peeling and needs to be painted or replaced.  The body does have various battle scars, all of which should be visible in the pictures.  There are a few very small surface rust bubbles- one just behind the left wheel, another to the left of the tailgate window, and one inside the passenger door jamb.  The underside is very clean and dry, with no rust at all.  Driver's window works fine, but the other three need new rollers.  We just leave them up (very common problem with GM cars in the 90's).  Cruise control does not work.  Heater does not work, although the core is still hooked up and not leaking.  I believe an actuator door may be stuck behind the dash.  We live in Arizona, so I never tried to fix this.  Rear main seal is leaking oil- I've always added a quart between changes.  Power antenna and window washer do not work.  Small chip on lower right part of windshield.  It's been there since we purchased the car.  I do have ALL of the rubber side trim, and it is included in the sale (that's the rubber strip that was originally glued to the stainless belt line molding).  They always fell off, so it is very rare to have every piece.  The car also comes with a Hypertune handheld programmer, which enables you to set shift points and performance variables with the car's computer.  All of the towing goodies stay with the car as well, including a class 3 hitch, 7 pin round connector, extra transmission cooler (it has three total, including the one in the radiator), and brake control wiring (it's all set for a Prodigy brake control unit, just plug and play).  Premium Optima Red Top Battery, plus 235 75 R15 whitewall radials with 70% tread are included.  Gauges all function, and no trouble codes or warning lights are present.  Clean Arizona title in my name.  Please call or email with any questions.  My name is Alex, and my number is 520-465-2539.  I am a vintage car collector, and the former director of our local chapter of the Buick Club of America.  I love these Roadmasters, so I hope the winning bidder will enjoy this car as much as we did.  I have sold a number of cars on eBay, so check my feedback and bid with confidence.  Winning bidder to pay a $500 deposit via Paypal immediately.  Balance due via wire transfer within three days. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so please bid to win.  I am willing to post a buy it now price, so please call me if you would like to make an offer before the auction ends.  I do have the car for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
