This car is going to the highest bidder.No Reserve!Runs and drives but will not pass NY State inspectionThe check engine light is on for an engine misfire.The car can be driven.In fact, I drove it 18 miles to my location. I stayed off the highways because the primary hood latch did not hold - only the secondary latch was working.I lubricated the latch back at my shop and the primary latch now works. However, the hood latch and release lever are funky - they now work.This is probably a good parts car, but if you're handy you will have a pretty car to drive.When applying the brakes I hear a scraping noise. It could be rusty rotors (I did not rack the car or pull a wheel).The tranny shifts and seems OK, however, with the engine misfire it was hard to get a good feel for it.You can probably drive it home - does not overheat and the brake pedal feels good and stops the car no problem.There are no guarantees and shipping is recommended.Steering and handling are excellent.Body and interior are also excellent.Windows, wipers and gauges all seem to work.Call me for more info or computer code numbers or email me.My mechanic does not "speak" Volkswagen very well so I am not getting it repaired.Car always starts - has a great battery.If driving it home, it will need wiper blades.Since it will not pass NY State inspection ...New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will easily pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy.
