Vehicle Detail

1906 Ford Model N Runabout - Restored - Sale benefits CCCA Museum 1906 Ford Model N Runabout Sale to benefit the Classic Car Club of America Museum Body Number 4185. Engine Number N402 Prior to the introduction of the Model T in 1908, the Model N was the best-selling car in America, with 7,000 made between July, 1906 and November, 1908. It was lightweight, durable and priced at $500, was affordable to the masses. Designed as a two-passenger runabout, Ford and his staff learned many things from the Model N that were later incorporated into the Model T. While the early history of this car is unknown, it was later acquired by noted collector and old-car aficionado, Margaret Dunning of Plymouth, Michigan. Margaret commissioned a full, high-level restoration of the car to bring it back to life. This was a complete restoration of body, chassis, upholstery, engine and drivetrain. When finished, Margaret drove the car occasionally and enjoyed showing it (as attested to by the "Wolf Whistle" horn she added under the hood!) About 10 years ago she donated it to the Classic Car Club Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. Margaret also donated her 1930 Cadillac and following her passing in 2015 at age 105, her 1930 Packard joined the museum collection. As the 1906 Ford falls outside of the scope of the CCCA Museum (which encompasses cars from the Classic Era of 1915-1948), it is now being offered for sale here on eBay, with net proceeds to benefit the CCCA Museum, a 501c3 non-profit institution and their programs to preserve the cars and history of the Classic Era. Charvet Classic Cars has been retained to handle the sale of this automobile of behalf of the museum. The car remains in exceptional condition today. It has been stored and displayed in the climate-controlled facility of the Gilmore and CCCA Museums in Hickory Corners. Paint and upholstery are excellent today. Please see photos. While not started recently, we are told the car runs well. The 4 cylinder engine develops 15 horsepower with top-speed of 40-45 mph. (Note that this car is not equipped with a speedometer or odometer. Actual mileage is unknown.) Two-wheel rear brakes. Planetary transmission with 2 forward speeds and reverse. Disc clutch. It is optioned with cowl lamps, bulb horn and top. The boat tail rear deck has storage space inside. Wood spoke wheels were restored and wear newer 3" x 28" tires. Dimensions: Wheelbase is 84". Overall length 115" (9.58 feet.) Height approximately 6 feet. This is a lovely car, ideal for display or touring and you will find a large network of support through the Early Ford Registry and its members. It would be the centerpiece of any collection of brass-era cars or early Fords. A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its quality and rarity. Please bid accordingly. Note that car is currently on display at the Classic Car Club of America Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan 49060 (near Kalamazoo.) Pick-up will be made from this location.
