Vehicle Detail

1970 Camaro RS/SS L48If you "buy it now" I will pay for shipping for the continental US only....(that's right) And if you don't, then buyer will be responsible for shipping. This is a real 1970 RS/SS Camaro that came with a small block 5.7 350c.i 300HP L48. This is a true Z22 (RS) and Z27 (SS) optioned Camaro. The Camaro paint code is 53 53 (Camaro Gold) with 727 Saddle deluxe interior. This Camaro also has the desired Rally Sport option, which includes the burl wood interior pieces on door panels, cluster bezel, and shifter plate. The RS option also included the highly desired split bumpers, extended polyurethane nose piece, two-piece black grill, chrome grill housing, and two chromed bumpers. The RS option also included the cool round rally turn signals. The SS option included a small block 5.7 300HP L48. Unfortunate, the original L48 was removed by the previous owner, but was replace by a LT1 5.7 small block that is carbureted by a Holley 650. In 1970, all Camaro vehicles with SS or Z28 RPO option came with a 12 bolt rear end. 1970 marked the last year for the 12 bolt rear option for the Camaro. This Camaro has the original 12 bolt with 3.08 gears (due to AC unit). The Camaro SS also has the F-41 suspension upgrade that features a thicker front sway bar and a rear sway bar. This Camaro has the rear tail light panel painted Black. It is debated whether only big block SS Camaros or all SS Camaros had the rear tail light panel painted semi-gloss black. Some argued that the black should be flat or satin. According to the second owner, the car was purchased with the rear tail panel black. In 1970, it was not out of the ordinary for the customer to work out special request that were added to the vehicle (Black stripes, special RPO’s, or special paint codes). In the event the next owner does not want the rear black panel, we can work something out and I’ll have it painted to match the rest of the car. This Camaro was purchase from the second owner that had the car since 1992. The second owner used it as a daily driver until 2008. The Camaro was garaged for 5-6 years since. This 1970 Camaro was built in Van Nuys, Ca during the third week of February 1970 (02C). The Camaro was sold and delivered on March 2, 1970 at the Ted Green Chevrolet dealership in Torrance, Ca. This Camaro includes the original Protect-O-Plate and vehicle’s warranty, which is signed by the original owner (Mr. G. B. from Torrance, Ca 1970). The Camaro also includes a partial, but original built sheet removed from the gas tank. The partial built sheet has the important information such as VIN, motor displacement, tires, and RPO. The rest of the built sheet is still on the left top area of the gas tank. This Camaro has the original Ca blue license plate and has a clean California title. The car was originally sold in Torrance, Ca in 1970 and continues its existence in the south bay area. Interior The original interior was at least three shades of saddle (carpet, dash, panels, and seats were different shades). The interior was reupholstered in with new black material. This beautiful interior is all new, the front and rear seats were reupholstered, the headliner and visor were replaced, new dome light lens, black carpet is new, jute padding was added, heat and noise mat was installed, new dash pad, all interior panels were reconditioned, new rear package tray, custom deluxe seat belts, new chrome rear view mirror, new foot pedal kit. The interior looks and feels sharp and it’s an overall improvement from the previous tan colored interior. Other addition include; new ignition switch with keys that open the doors too, new turn signal switch, new bucket seat knobs, and new pioneer stereo and speakers. Exterior The original Paint code is 53 Camaro Gold. The Camaro was painted the original paint code 53, which originally came in metallic. The Camaro has clean and rust free floor panels. Pitted rust areas are found in center trunk area (small in size). This Camaro has new tail lights lenses and gaskets, cleaned and painted trunk area, new trunk mat, rechromed rear bumper and front bumpers, new trunk lock bezel, new ‘SS’ and ‘350’ fender emblems, one-piece rear spoiler, new door locks, new door handles, new header panel emblem, rechromed grill housing, new turn signals, new headlight bezel, new RS front spoiler, new front and rear markers, new door weather-strips, new window weather-strips, new trunk weather-strip, new windshield (green tint due to AC option), and new side view mirror brackets. Engine and Performance This Camaro is a daily driver and runs great. The car has an automatic TH350 that shift smooth. A recent complete tune up was done. The LT1 has new plugs, new cables, new open element air cleaner with new chrome lid and new air cleaner, new radiator cover, new power booster, new brake cylinder, new water pump, new thermostat, new fan clutch, and new cap and rotor. The LT1 (center bolt) originally came fueled injected, but it now has a GM aluminum intake with a 650 Holley. This Camaro is also an AC optioned car, however, the AC is not currently working. Everything for the AC is currently on the car except for the AC condenser and Dryer. The AC’s water hoses are connected and are not leaking, therefore, there is a good probability the AC unit still functions. The suspension was worked on and major component were replaced. The car has new, ball joints, new center link, new tied rods, new left brake caliper, and new front brakes. This car originally came with steel rims with chrome moon hub caps that were housed by F- 70x14 tires (actual tire description is on built sheet). It currently has a set of Z28 rims with new center blue bow caps and new rings. The front tires are new and the rear tires are at 90-95% condition. The tires are all cooper Cobra GT front 215/65/15 and rear 255/60/15. This 1970 Camaro is great daily driver with highly desirable options. The total production for L48 SS Camaro was 10,012 (~9% of all production). The total production of RS optioned Camaro was 27,136 (~22%). Total production of L87 deluxe interior was 21,059 (~17%). What does it all mean? Well, roughly 370 Camaros in 1970 had the Z27 with L48, Z22, and Z87 RPO options. The pie can be sliced even more if we factor in AC, transmission, tires, and perhaps even the paint code productions into account. If you decided to "buy it now", then I will pay for shipping to any where in the continental US (Valid address only).
