Vehicle Detail

Relisted due to "Joseph Ruffin" (jose-ruff) in St. Louis. Merry Christmas Mr. Ruffin. You must be very proud of yourself... I will consider a trade for a "Nice Corvette" I call it "One of None" I built this car the way I think GM should have built it in 1987. The carbureted 305 that came in these cars was a pathetic joke. I spent 5 years working on this car and Hate the idea of selling it. I have thousands of hours and well over $30K invested. I understand I'm going to loose my ass, but I am not going to give this car away. Body : All original sheet metal (except new steel 2" cowl induction hood) I stripped the entire car to bare metal - etch primed - poly primed- blocked sanded it twice- applied 3 coats of PPG water base (VOC compliant) Carbon Flash Metallic Paint- and 4 coats of their premium clear ($1000. per gallon) This car is very very close to "show" quality. I painted all of the moldings satin black, but added new chrome door handles, for contrast. All emblems were shaved. The outer edges of the T-Tops were painted the same as the body color, instead of the usual flat black. This car needed very little body work and the only filler in it is on small "door ding" size dents and factory imperfections. All of the gaps are far better than when the car was new. Drivetrain : 1987 5.7 L-98 Tuned Port Injection from a Trans Am GTA that had about 33K miles on it. After checking the compression, which was great, I resealed everything and added a new radiator & hoses, high flow aluminum water pump, dual chrome electric fans, A/C compressor, alternator, injectors, all sensors, custom ECM with hi performance chip, harness, distributor, Pro-Comp valve covers, chrome timing cover and oil pan, custom fuel rails, mid length titanium wrapped headers, titanium wrapped custom cold air induction system with custom containment box. True dual exhaust with Walker Turbo mufflers and 3" stainless tips. Rebuilt 200R4 Transmission, 2200-2500 stall convertor + shift kit. New U-joints & pinion seal on the 10 bolt "open" 373 rear. Interior: New headliner, package shelf cover. Full vinyl dash cover, carpet, Monte Carlo SS floor mats. All interior soft parts were re-dyed. New 115 MPH Speedo & 8K tachometer. (both very rare) Every square inch of the interior, doors, and trunk were sound proofed and sound fantastic. Decent sound system. New speakers. Custom burgundy and black trunk upholstery. Every weather strip is brand new. Rolling Stock : 18" X 8.5" IROC chrome reproduction rims with 275/40/18 Toyo tires (about 1000 miles since installed) Undercarriage : All new brakes, hardware, tie rods, idler arm, shocks, poly sway bars bushings. (2" drop spindles go with the car) Actually I have a bunch of extra parts I will give to the buyer. In tank 155 LPH fuel pump and Grand National sending unit. This car was completed this spring then I had a heart attack and am not able to dot the I's and cross the T's. Remaining work to be done : Nothing expensive. Just the normal shake down stuff you find after a restoration/customization of this magnitude. Fuel gauge is kicking my butt, steering column upper bushing has to much play in it, A/C has never been recharged and will likely need a need a new accumulator, I have the C/C parts but have not mounted them. Speedo gear from the old transmission needs to be installed. Window motors are slow (but they do work) Power locks are not working, but I have not even looked at that problem (likely a relay) That's all I can think of right now. I have set the reserve less than some of the other similar cars on here and I am 100% sure mine will put all of the others to shame. This car turns heads and garners compliments everywhere it goes. I encourage you to come drive and inspect it before you bid. Just call Jim 301-667-3400.
