THE STORY: I was doing a routine delivery for a customer and I inquired about the car that was covered up in the garage she said “its a datsun 240 or something.. My husband isn’t home yet but I have been trying to get him to sell it for a while now.” I gave her my number and about a week later he called. It was un covered and in the drive way running.. A green 78’ 280z 5speed with Factory ac and aluminum wheels. The old college professor said he was embarrassed to say he’s only put 4,000 miles on her since he bought it but that was a lot of trips to church and brunch afterward . It was beautiful, not a single spot of fluid stained the garage floor where it had been sitting for the past 20 years. I asked about the glass top and he said it and the bumper trim were original dealer options when the car was first sold. PROS: the way the doors shut like new, the interior looks new, the dash looks perfect, the steering is tight, never been painted or wrecked, NO ROT anywhere, 5 speed, aluminum wheels with caps, power antenna works and radio sounds good, every piece of rubber on the bumpers and all the door seals are soft, factory ac… CONS: small amount of surface rust above the radiator, takes about four crankes to cold start, a headlight is burnt out, has a few very small dings, running lights wont turn on and it needs a good brake job their sticking from sitting so long. SUMMARY: It needs a little TLC but shes all original and un molested old man owned. It purrs like a kitten form the moment she fires up no ticks or knocks. If u like these cars you wont be disappointed.
