Vehicle Detail

This Thunderbird was purchased new in Tucson Arizona, and driven less than 78,000 miles before the owner died in 1984.  At that time, the owner's husband placed the car in a garage, and it has sat untouched for over thirty years.  Last month, I had the car pulled from it's tomb, and gave it a thorough cleaning.  While filthy, the car was remarkably well-preserved from being stored in a closed garage in the desert.  Over the years, nobody tried to start it, "restore" it, or otherwise disturb it's time capsule state.  The factory pink paint is original to the car, as are the interior, spark plug wires, and exhaust system.  Several oil change stickers document the mileage, and the car appears to have been well-maintained during it's time on the road.  I was very careful to only clean and evaluate the car, and no attempt has been made to get it running or alter it in any way.  The engine does turn over by hand, so with some effort, the new owner should be able to wake it up their way.  I also connected a battery, and the turn signals, horn, interior light, and AC blower all function.  The power windows, headlights, and wipers do not, so the wiring will need some attention.  Several desert packrats had made their home in this car during storage, and they love to nibble on wiring.  Please expect to spend some time on the electrical, but most of the damage appears simple to repair.  Also, a miscreant broke into the garage at one point and damaged the trunk lock.  The cylinder has been removed, but the trunk latch still functions well, and the damage is limited to the area immediately around the lock hole.  The glass all looks to be in excellent condition, but the driver's window was left in the down position during storage.  The car has not been outside with the window uncovered, but you will need to service the power windows, as it appears that they are not getting power.  I have not tried to engage the starter, although the ignition switch does turn on the idiot lights and accessories.  The chrome and stainless trim are in excellent condition throughout, and nothing appears to be missing or damaged.  There are no signs of rust anywhere on the car, as it has spent it's entire life in Tucson, Arizona.  The underside, floors, rockers, and suspension components are all solid, and I have included pictures for verification.  The body is very straight, with one crease on the passenger door, and a few small dings elsewhere.  The paint is original, although it appears that the hood was re-sprayed at one point.  The interior will need attention, but has excellent original door panels, plus a near-perfect factory headliner.  The gauges and steering wheel are excellent, along with all the interior trim, sun visors, and armrests.  The top of the passenger door panel shows cracking, but the others are very well preserved.  The seats, seat foam, carpet, and dash pad will all need restoration.  All four tires hold air for transport, but they are at least thirty years old and not safe for road use.  I do have the spare, which is flat but will be included in the sale.  The car is available for inspection at my house in Tucson Arizona, and I will gladly show by appointment.  My name is Alex, and I can be reached at 520-465-2539.  I am a classic car collector and enthusiast, and have sold several vintage cars on eBay, so please check my feedback and bid with confidence.  I have a clear, notarized Arizona title, plus all original keys (ignition, door, console, and gas cap).  $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction close, balance due within seven days.  I will hold the car for up to 14 days if paid in full.  This is a no-reserve auction, so the car will have a new owner when the time is up.  I will gladly entertain offers prior to the auction close, and will post a buy-it-now if we agree on a price.  I reserve the right to cancel the auction if sold locally.  Good luck, and happy bidding!
