Vehicle Detail

Well what can I say about this amazing motorcycle that the pictures do not convey? This bike is amazing and If you lived through the golden age of Grand Prix 125/250/500cc 2 stroke motorcycle racing in the 80's then you know just how special this replica bike is. The bike started off as a bog standard 1984 Honda VF500 Interceptor, an iconic 80's bike in itself. Yes I know it is hard to believe that what you are seeing started out as a stock Interceptor 500 V4 but I think that is a tribute to the talented envisionist that created this bike. I will not reveal Brad's last name but there is plenty of articles on this bike and others that he has created over the years and believe me he has made some very amazing replica motorcycles out of some unlikely donors! When I found this bike for sale over a year ago I had to have it! I have very much enjoyed owning, showing, riding and displaying this bike since I have had it but unfortunately am having to sell it to help my son pay for his college. I know I can never replace it so it is a very reluctant sale. I will list some of the modifications made to the bike but really parts are just parts and what makes this bike such a great motorcycle is the detail in how well they were put together and presented to create something special. The fairing is Honda GP RS250 as well as the tail section. The wheels were borrowed from a 1985 VF1000R as was the swingarm. The shock is also borrowed from another Japanese donor. The fuel tank is from a Ducati 999 and is heavily modified to create a look that is closer to the GP bike this replicates. Gauges are Yamaha FZR600 and brake calipers are newer Nissan's from another Honda Donor as are the rotors. Exhaust is custom SuperTrapp 4 into 2 into 2 and exits out either side of the belly pan mostly hidden to disguise its V4 four stroke powerplant. Speaking of the exhaust, this bike sounds amazing with a throaty V4 punch without being too loud or obnoxious. Rothman's livery paint and decals were added as well as a single headlight up front and traditional Honda NSR style duel round taillight/brake lights out back. The bike does not have any turn signals, functioning horn or high beam headlight (Highbeam functions as a headlight off switch). The taillights were working when I got the bike but for some reason just the brake lights are working at the moment and I am not sure I will have time to look into it before auctions end but this is a simple and small detail. Obviously there are many more details to the bike to make it what you see but I have listed some of the largest changes that amounted to a massive amount of work and fabrication to create what you see in the pictures. Aesthetically it all comes together to make one very beautiful and fun to ride replica 1985 NSR500GP bike. The engine is basically stock and has always worked well but has unknown mileage as the gauges were changed and older bikes are exempt from mileage disclosures in South Dakota. Currently and for full disclosure, the bike does not idle well with the choke at less than half throttle but does run very well otherwise. I am sure that the idle jets are partially plugged from lack of use but again, a small detail that is easily remedied. The paint on the bike looks very good in my opinion but was not professionally sprayed as Brad builds all of his bikes at his workshop at home. There are some scratches and small blems in the paint and as I stated before please do not bid if you are expecting a show quality bike as this is not. It IS however a great looking and aside from the carb cleaning, running motorcycle. I cannot go to any motorcycle show or bike night without monopolizing the event. I have owned several bikes over my near 50 years of life and this has been one of the most fun to own because of its one of a kind status, and the questions and excitement it evokes from others. The bike handles better than the original VF500 did but it definitely handles like an 80's sportbike overall. I do have another complete VF500 motor tha is used but looks like new that I will include with the sale of this bike if the new owner wants it. It is heavy so shipping it may be expensive so bid accordingly if you are not going to pick the bike up yourself rather than have it delivered. This bike will be sold as is with no warranty implied or expressed and no returns will be accepted for any reason. If you want to view the bike in person I would welcome and encourage that. Just message me through Ebay and we will set up a time to meet. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer exclusively and I will require a $500 down payment through Paypal immediately after the auction ends. I have provided several high quality untouched pictures that really tell the condition of this motorcycle. Please take the time to look through all of them and please ask any and all questions you may have prior to bidding. This bike is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime if the vehicle sells prior to its completion. Thank you for looking and best of luck bidding!
