WE REFUSED TO USE THE ADD ON, COLUMN CLAMP, AFTERMARKET PLASTIC SWITCHES. THESE WERE PREVALENT IN THE MID 1970s, THEY CLAMPED ONTO THE OUTSIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND WERE UGLY ! ! FURTHER, THEY RUINED THE CLEAN FEATURES OF AN ORIGINAL TRUCK. OUR SEARCH CONTINUED.. CAMERON ELECTRIC OF CLINTON, MISSOURI WAS ASSIGNED THE JOB; BUILD A SOLID STATE, HIDDEN, SELF FLASHING SWITCH. SOMETHING THAT COULD BE HIDDEN UNDER THE DASH AND WOULD HAVE A REMINDER BEEPER THAT INDICATED WHEN THE SIGNAL WAS FLASHING. THEY GAVE US EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED. THE SMALL BLACK BOX IS HIDDEN COMPLETELY UNDER THE DASH ALONG WITH A SMALL INCONSPICUOUS SWITCH. IT WORKS GREAT ! ! !PUSH THIS SWITCH LEFT (FLASHES LEFT), PUSH RIGHT (FLASHES RIGHT) !======================================== PLEASE CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBERONE OF THE PRECAUTIONS THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN BY THE OLD TRUCK BUYER IS IN REGARDS TO THE SERIAL NUMBER.. IN THE LATE 40s AND EARLY 1950s, MANY STATES FOUGHT TENACIOUSLY TO THWART THE PROLIFIC MOTOR VEHICLE THIEVES.. LEGISLATORS IN SOME STATES DETERMINED THAT THE TRUE SERIAL NUMBER SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT WAS STAMPED ON THE ENGINE BLOCK, RATHER THAN THE NUMBER THAT WAS STAMPED ON THE DOOR PLATE. THIS WORKED OUT FINE UNTIL THE OLD ENGINE WAS REPLACED AND THE SERIAL NUMBER BECAME DISCARDED. IT WAS SENT OUT WITH THE SCRAP... NOW, YEARS LATER, THIS IS BECOMING AN INCREASINGLY SERIOUS PROBLEM, WITH TITLES TRANSFERRED THAT SHOW A SERIAL NUMBER THAT DOES NOT MATCH----ANYTHING.... PLEASE NOTICE THE TWO PICTURES REGARDING OUR OFFERING.. WE HAVE ILLUSTRATED THAT OUR TITLE AND SERIAL NUMBER TAG MATCH PERFECTLY.. MANY CANNOT MAKE THIS CLAIM. NEW GAS TANK, SENDING UNIT, 12 VOLT GAS GAGE, 12 VOLT POWER SUPPLY AND ON AND ON.. THE ORIGINAL IGNITION SWITCH AND FOOT OPERATED STARTER HAVE BEEN RETAINED AND ALL OF THE GAGES WORK CORRECTLY.. OUR TIRED OLD SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT IN ANY CONDITION TO RESTORE, SO WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW ONE.. IT LOOKS GREAT AND IS GUARANTEED TO WORK CORRECTLY FOR ONE FULL YEAR.. THE ORIGINAL (BEEP,BEEP) HORN ALSO WORKS AND RETAINS USE OF THE ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL HORN BUTTON.. RATHER THAN TRYING TO REPAIR THE OLD CRACKED STEERING WHEEL A BRAND NEW ONE WAS PROCURED AND PAINTED THE FACTORY COLOR.. WE ALSO OPTED FOR A BRAND NEW HORN BUTTON. ALSO IN THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT, WE CERTAINLY COULDN'T TAKE A CHANCE WITH THE OLD 6 VOLT WIRING. CLASSIC PARTS HAD A CORRECT WIRING HARNESS WHICH INCLUDED THE REQUIRED WIRING FOR THE ADDED TURN SIGNALS. ALSO NEW, THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, HIDDEN TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AND A 40 AMP FUSE AT THE MAIN BREAKER... AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT LOCKING UP THE VALUABLES, AS WE HAVE REPLACED BOTH EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WITH NEW CHROME REPRODUCTIONS FROM JIM CARTER'S ANTIQUE TRUCK PARTS.. AS PER FACTORY SPECS, ONLY THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR HAD AN OUTSIDE LOCK AND IT WORKS EXACTLY AS IT WAS DESIGNED. THE WHEELS ARE THE 16 INCH FACTORY ORIGINALS WITH THE CORRECT HUBCAP CLIPS STILL IN PLACE. WE HAVE SANDBLASTED EACH THOROUGHLY AND PAINTED AND PRIMED THEM CORRECTLY. TO THIS, THE CORRECT HAND PAINTED PINSTRIPE WAS ADDED AND 4 ORIGINAL REPRODUCTION HUBCAPS. THESE WERE PURCHASED AT JIM CARTER'S TRUCK PARTS IN INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI.. ALSO NEW, ARE THE REPRODUCTION, CHROME FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS AND THE NEW FRONT HOOD BADGE.
