Vehicle Detail

1940 LaSalle Series 50 Convertible Coupe Considered by experts to be the best looking LaSalle ever built, this 1940 LaSalle Series 50 Convertible is one of only 599 sold in the final year of LaSalle's 1927-1940 run.  Built on a 123 inch wheel base and powered by a 322 ci V8 130 hp engine, this vehicle reflects Harley J. Earl's legendary design expertise.  Features include sealed-beam headlights, built-in turn indicators, AM radio, Cadillac heater, four passenger seating and that amazing Cadillac - LaSalle ride comfort. This vehicle underwent and extensive restoration 15-20 years ago.  Modern rack and pinion power steering and disk brakes were added to enhance drivability.  The original factory Marquette Gray exterior color (#5)  and green leather interior (#26) where retained in the restoration.  In its current state this vehicle could be considered in #2 condition.  This a "driver quality" vehicle and would need minor work to reach "show quality" condition.   This LaSalle was originally purchased by the city of Chicago for use by an undercover officer tasked with infiltrating the Moran Gang who ran the north side of Chicago while Al Capone ran the south side. The radio push buttons still have Chicago area radio station call signs printed in them. Thank you for you interest in this elegant and substantial vehicle.  For more information and please contact Bryan at 860-986-4912.  This vehicle is available for viewing by appointment.
