Vehicle Detail

1972 Corvette Custom Football Hall of Famer Dick Butkus Owned and Restored 350CI, 4 Speed ‘72 Corvette, owned, restored and customized by Football Hall of Famer Dick Butkus over the past 10 years and at a cost over $55k, not including the car itself. The car is titled and the registration is current in Dick’s name. Butkus played for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League and is widely regarded as one of the best and most durable linebackers of all time. The work was for the most part performed by the well known restorers of Lasky Coachworks (of OverHaulin fame among others) with upholstery by the highly regarded custom interior shop of Mike Ambrose, both of West Los Angeles. Custom features include: 1 Piece Tilt Up LT1 style hood with fixed head lightsIncredibly gorgeous Blue Metallic Paint with mild pearl effectLeather Seats with Contrasting Piping in BlueUpgraded sound systemChrome Side Pipes Restoration work covered virtually every aspect of the car: Suspension and Steering Rebuilt, all new joints and shocksChassis components variously refinishedBrakes including renewal of all hydraulic components and hosesEngine refurbished with high performance cam, headers, ignition, 4bbl, Edelbrock and many other components and detailsTransmission and clutch Exhaust System Carpets throughoutRe-Chromed bumpersBody Gaskets and SealsWheels refinished and Beauty Rings PolishedFresh TiresAnd many other details with many original details still in place The work is of high quality and was carried out over a period of time, during which the car was regularly driven and maintained, but never accumulated many miles. Thus the work is holding up very nicely indeed. The ’72 is of course the last year of the narrow bumpers and the removable rear glass, which beautifully complements open air the T-Tops. This car starts runs and drives very nicely and grabs loads of attention wherever it goes. The pictures don’t begin to do it justice. It makes good power, feels very tight and stops as it should. It’s a great example of one of those projects that may have “gotten a little out of hand” resulting in a big loss for the owner and a big gain for the next owner. Clear title in hand. I’ll facilitate shipping as needed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have. Best Regards, Mike
