Vehicle Detail

Ok fellas this is it. I've finally decided to sell my beloved, near showroom condition, single-owner, 1993 Ford Probe GT. She's about as good as it gets. I've had the car since I was 16 – 38 miles on when I got it - 185,171 now. I have loved this car and babied it for 23 years. It is nearly all original condition. Mostly highway miles, this car was a daily driver for 5 years, a secondary driver for 8 years, and has essentially sat in my garage for the past 10. I’ve got kids now, need the storage space, and hesitantly decided I finally need to let it go. It would be great to see this car go to someone who could maintain it and preserve the car in its current condition. I have spent more time and money than I care to count over the years to keep this car in like-new condition top to bottom. There are no weaknesses to this car. Everything works in and out - down to every dash, glovebox, and ashtray light. There is a suite of upgrade parts on this car that would be impossible to find now and perhaps the rarest part, a complete near perfect interior with original two piece door panels. You simply just don’t see this car this nice anywhere these days - regardless of mileage. I do believe this is one of the best last examples of this car left in the country. She's not perfect but close. Drives like new looks like new. No incidents and clean car fax. I think it is tastefully modified (which you hardly ever see) – the car is light, has plenty of power, and has exceptional, balanced handling – a true GT car and an example of what the car should have been from Ford. This car is extremely fun to drive and epitomizes what was great about the 90's – that’s why I’ve kept it all these years! So this is the story - Original Build History: Very unique options package - this car was special ordered the end of 1992 for someone who required certain features but wanted the car to be as light as possible for autocross. The car was built and delivered but financing fell through and then my father helped me purchase the car then it became titled to me. Original options included as per the original brochure: · Dual electric remote control mirrors, · Tilt steering wheel, · Convenience group – tinted glass, interval wipers, remote fuel door and lift gate release, batter saver, convenience lights throughout, low fuel and low washer lights, glove box and engine compartment lights and fade to off dome light, and headlight warning chime. · Manual A/C, · Light group – illuminated entry system, dual illuminated visor mirrors, map lights. · Colour-keyed body side moldings, · Rear wiper and heated electric remote mirrors, · FM/AM radio with tape deck (since changed), · Console with storage bin, · Colour-key front floor mats, and · Power antenna. What I find interesting was what was not included for weight savings: · No power door locks or windows, · No cruise control, · No remote entry, · No ABS (which is rare for this car), · No sunroof, and · No spoiler option (and none ever added). Here’s current status of systems with added upgrades: · Engine – original 2.5L KLDE with 185k miles – Mobil 1 Synthetic since day 1 and Amsoil Signature the last 5 years changed on or before 3k miles. Car consumes very little oil and is overall excellent condition. Last timing belt change was changes at 140k. There is still a LOT of life left in this engine. I have a binder of service records for this car - repairs have mainly been seals. Associated with engine: o Weapon R CAI, o Unorthodox underdrive pulley wheel, o Hot Shot III ceramic coated headers, o Aftermarket high flow catalytic converter, o Greddy stainless steel exhaust, o RR racing urethane engine mounts. · Transmission - original 5-sp manual filled with Redline GL-4 manual trans fluid. o Fidanza lightweight flywheel, o SPEC stage 2 clutch, o B&M short throw shifter with: § RR racing urethane shifter stabilizing bushing. § All plastic shifter bushings have be replaced with custom-made oil-bronze bushings – car shifts like it has a gate shifter. · Suspension – Tokico 5-way adjust Illuminas with Ebach Springs (lowered approx. 1-inch) o AWR rear track-tuned 19.5 mil sway bar (giving the car extremely predictable and balance handling) with AWR adjustable aftermarket end links, o AWR aftermarket rear trail arms, and o Front and rear tower braces. · Brakes – Front: Mazda6 caliper and Chrome Brakes12-inch rotor direct bolt-on upgraded from previous RR racing ‘big brake’ kit (adaptor caliper bracket for 12-inch rotor). o Rear: stock with Hawk Street brake pads and SP Performance cross-drilled rotors, o Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, and o ATE Super Racing Blue brake fluid. · Wheels and Tires – 17lb SSR GT1 Integra 17x 7.5 rims on BRAND NEW 225-45-17 Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position Max Summer Tire (less than 200 miles) – amazing driving tire – hard to believe the handling of this car! · Interior – Original seats with power lumbar and bolster, upholstery and floor mats – great condition for its age no holes or rips. o Awesome Kenwood Mini-Disc KMD-44 In-Dash Deck (Straight from the 90s!) with aux input for your phone, o Polk MOMO Component Speakers (carbon fiber and marine grade) – front o Polk dB series 6”x 8” - rear o Kenwood 60w x 4 channel amp – under driver’s seat o Kicker 2.150w sub amp – under passenger’s seat o Kicker 12” sealed sub in truck o Dynamat throughout – Stereo system overall sounds very very good in this car. o Newer carpet – the car did have a water leak from the door years ago and the carpet got damp and little musty – I decided to replace the carpet. o New Sparco Shift Knob and Racing Pedals. · Exterior – Car was repainted original factory color by Maaco here in Portland using their top-of-the-line Platinum service including Sherwin-Williams high-end urethane base and clear coats. They did the entire car including the jamb areas and re-applied decals. I paid $3,200 for this service and have the receipt. I think they did a good job looks like a showroom finish. I tried for years to preserve the original factory finish but it was extremely poor quality as most paints in the 1990's were. o HELLA Dual Fog and Driving Fog Lamps with interior selector switch. · OEM replacement parts include: o New Bosch plug wires and NGK V-Power Plugs, o New Denso oxygen sensors, o New battery, o Newer radiator, o Newer CV half-shafts, o Newer front A-arm front and rear bushings, o Newer sway bar bushings, o Newer sway bar end links o Newer ball joints, o Newer tie rods, o New strut mounts at all 4 corners, o Recent 100 point inspection and all fluids replaced.
