Vehicle Detail

For Sale: 1983 Hurst Oldsmobile Coupe - an original car that has been stored for years at our farm; it does need some work to get it back on the road. Car was running and driving when stored. Car has a clear Illinois title and it is being sold for a fair price with no reserve!***** BODY: Car paint is original black, silver accents, and red/white Hurst stripes and badges. All Hurst items are there - rear deck wing, mag style rims, badging, seats, air cleaner, motor, shifters etc... it is unique that it is a non-t-top car. Body has minor areas that could be fixed or left as is, these include: spot of rust at the front and rear bottom corners of each door, hood has rust through on the leading edge and some paint chips, rusty spot along side of passenger side window, couple of surface spots on trunk and a few on the painted silver bumpers. Tires are white lettered radials and probably have half of their life left. Floors are solid, underneath is solid with normal surface rust, and cowl, sills, and frame are also good. Hood has a sticky release cable that needs work. Body has not been buffed, but probably would look nice if done. Driver's door had some metal damage from the mirror catching the garage, but was straightened out and works fine. Also driver window felts outer seal needs replacing. The front end spoiler is missing, but all brackets are there to mount a used or new one. Car is currently insured as an Antique under "Survivor" because it is in good shape.***** MECHANICAL: Car has original 307 V8 with automatic trans (has the three stick Lighting Shifter). Motor was running when it went into storage - currently not running. Coming out of storage to sell it, I took it to a couple of local mechanics - had the carb rebuilt, tank cleaned, a new battery, and a new fuel pump put in and found that it will turn over, it will try to fire, but will not consistently run. Mechanics feel that it has some stuck valves, given no pressure in two cylinders, and suggested the heads be redone as a needed repair. Apparently, I let it sit too long. Car rolls fine, brakes work and all mechanical components are there. It will need a new battery and I know the air pump is unhooked by the mechanics to attempt to get it running. One could easily fix the motor or replace it. I do know that the previous owner put in a new tie rod, tie rod ends, and other front end parts. Selling the car as is and as shown since I did not getting it running.***** INTERIOR: Interior was slightly apart when I bought it as the previous owner was trying to replace the headliner - the car will still need a headliner. I have the driver's door panel, dash parts and other moldings, as well as the back seat bottom for the car. I also have the jack, the original unused spare tire and mounting hardware, a new front radio speaker, original am/fm/cassette radio, two visors, radio faceplate, chrome overhead interior/reading light, rear speaker mounts and other misc. parts. I also have the metal molding at the wiper level outside on the windshield (was restored). Interior has power windows, power door locks, power bucket seats, accessory mirror remote, cruise, tilt, automatic, air, non t-tops, and has vinyl seats (chrome side of seats specific to Hurst). What is missing are the two rear radio speakers, one piece of body side beltline molding on one door, one front dash speaker, and the headliner material. All parts that I have go with the car sale. Interior is clean, seats are intact and fine and just need cleaning, and carpet is fine - just needs detailing. The interior is easily put back together after headliner installation. All interior Hurst badging is in the car.***** TITLE: Clear Illinois title.***** PAYMENT: PayPal can be used to pay the $1000 deposit for the car within 3 days of the sale's end. Balance is due within two weeks after that - either by cash at pickup or by bank wire transfer (call for bank, account, and bank contact details) before coming. If fully paid for up front, car can stay here stored for up to 30 days at no charge, after 30 days, I will refund all money, except for the deposit, and relist the car. If deposit is made and full payment and pickup is not made in the two weeks after depositing, selling owner will keep the deposit and car will be relisted. I just want the car to go to a new owner that appreciates it in and one that can pick it up in a timely manner.**** QUESTIONS: If questions, contact Dr. Brian using the email link above and to the right of this ad that mentions, "ask seller a questions". Car is located 1.5 hours south of Chicago, Illinois (in zip code 60970) in Central Illinois and about 15-20 miles from West of the Illinois and Indiana state line. We are in a rural area, so easy to find and easy access. Car will have to be towed or transported, all arrangements and costs paid by buyer. I am happy to work with a transporter and arrangements made. You also are welcome to inspect the car in person prior to sale end or send someone to inspect it prior to sale's end - give me notice and I will work with your schedule the best I can. Selling the car as nonrunning, as is and as shown, with no warranty or no return. Thanks for looking!*****
