Vehicle Detail
General: You’re bidding on my very original and VERY nice 1965 Ford F100 short wheelbase truck. This perfectly fits the description of a “survivor” as it was never modified, never restored, never repainted or mucked with in any way. With that being said, it isn’t perfect and the paint does have some chips and small spots of patina, but these things are only original once which I think makes it so much more special than all of the other cookie cutter restored trucks floating around. Keep in mind this truck also isn’t a fully patina’d shop truck with blown out paint, it still shines and looks sharp and I’m sure it was garaged for the large majority of its life. One spot I know of has been painted, which is outlined below in the “Exterior” section. Mileage shows just under 3k miles and I believe, based on the condition of the vehicle, that it has 103k total miles. There is a sticker on the door from 6/26/1988 for an oil change that was performed at 92k miles, which supports that the mileage is likely 103k. I was told that this truck was owned by the same family for almost all of its life in Redding, CA and it has been in Reno for the last several years, this means that there is no rust or body rot that is so common with cars of this era. I’ve got pictures of all the common rusting spots including the windshield gutter, door sills, etc. and they look great. The bed has scratches (because this is a truck, after all) but it’s not very beat up at the same time too. This truck drives like brand new, there’s no weird noises, suspension clunks, etc. It has plenty of power and the engine feels strong, it also doesn’t pull to either side and the new tires ride perfect. I’m mulling my brain to think of things a buyer should be aware of, but there just isn’t much to say- the truck speaks for itself, it truly is a very well kept time capsule. I’ve got the title in my name and it’s currently registered/insured. I’ve tried to be as thorough as possible here, but I am happy to answer questions or provide additional pictures. My phone number is 775-690-6808, please no phone calls after 9PM Pacific Standard Time. Exterior: Color: Caribbean Turquoise 90% + original paint – still shines and looks fabulous, just as the pictures show. This color is really cool and it’s one of my all-time favorites, it perfectly suits the truck. The only place I can tell that has been repainted is the driver’s side rear tail light corner. It was repaired well and the only reason I know it’s not the original paint is that it’s a very slight different shade that you might be able to see in the pictures if you look closely. The body is in great condition with very minimal dings – the biggest is the small dent on the passenger front fender, which is pictured. Otherwise, for a 50 year old vehicle, it really is in incredible condition. Interior: Overall- Consistent with the exterior of the truck, it is also in very good shape. The paint on the dash is near perfect and shines like new, it has not been modified in any way- even down to the original AM radio. Every single thing works just like it did from the factory including the wipers, headlights, radio lights, high beams, turn signals, etc. The seat bottom was replaced at some point and there is a 6” tear towards the passenger side. The seat back appears to be original as well and the fabric recently split about 4” right where the driver sits, but the actual condition of the fabric is great. There are no seatbelts on this truck as it was not equipped with them from the factory. There is also no air conditioning. The floor material is original and looks very good, as does the original headliner. All glass in the truck is in good shape. I’d be willing to bet that the windows are all originals too as the seals look a bit weathered, but there’s no real way to verify that. Mechanical: Engine: 352 V8 This is the original motor and EVERYTHING looks just like it came from the factory, with the exception of the modern battery. Most of these trucks have been screwed with by so many people over the years and converted to paper filters, etc, but not this one. It starts up perfectly and runs like a top – my mechanic and several of his employees commented on just how great it ran. Transmission: 4 speed manual on the floor It shifts perfectly, clutch is still strong, no issues here. Maintenance: New Tires – Less than 300 miles on them New Battery New Starter Brakes serviced New valve cover gaskets New upper radiator hose New windshield wipers New spark plugs and wires New distributor and points All work was done within the last year and I’ve got receipts for it all that will come with it. The mechanic raved at the condition of it and said that the truck has been very well cared for over the years, it was very straight underneath and showed no signs of rust or decay. It was leaking a very small amount of coolant until the radiator hose was replaced, but I have not seen anything since then.
