Vehicle Detail
This is my 2003 Subaru Baja Sport in the sought after Yellow color and with an automatic transmission. I am the second owner and have driven this car every day for the last 10 years. This is a southern car and does NOT have a rust problem. The only reason why I am selling it is because my business has grown and I need a bigger vehicle so I bought a Sprinter Van. Big switch going from a Baja to a Sprinter Van. The Baja is in good condition considering it is 13 years old and has close to 275,000 miles on it. It has it normal bumps and scraps to the exterior and I tried to take pictures of the major ones. I always drive with the tailgate down and someone bumped me in the back end during stop and go traffic, so the tail gate and rear bumper cover needs to be replace or just drive with the tailgate down and no one will notice. The front bumper has a small tear in the front where I bumped someone in a parking garage and their trailer hitch poked a small hole in the center of the bumper. Put a license plate on the front and you will never notice. The air conditioner works well and blows cold air and the power locks and windows work fine. I carried plastic boxes in my business and unfortunately they made some dents and tears on the side door panels. The upholstery is in very good condition with no tears or burns. The carpet and factory floor mats are in very good condition. The carpet is actually better than appears in the pictures. The Baja has never been smoked in or hauled any pets. Below are some of the quirks with the Baja. The radio works intermittently(mainly not) and probably has a loose connection somewhere. A couple of the dashboard lights are burned out but does not affect night driving. The left rear taillight has a small crack that I sealed with super glue. The round plastic rings that fit around the bottom of the chrome rear "roll bars" are broken. The windshield wipers work fine and washer motor works fine also, but the windshield washer reservoir leaks. There has been a service light on for the last 75,000 miles and it has to do with the O2 sensor. I stopped by Autozone yesterday and they gave me the codes which were the following: O2 Sensor, thermostat malfunction and cooling fan, probably all related. At around 200,000 miles the car ran warm a couple of times in stop and go traffic when the temperature was above 95 degrees. I NEVER let it run hot. I turned the AC off did the old school trick of turning the heater on full heat. Within 1 minute the temperature returned to normal. I repeat the car has NEVER run hot. So about 3 times a year during the summer on very hot days the car will start to run warm so I turned the heater on and the temperature returns to normal. I am not sure what causes the car to run warm but I have been driving it for 75,000 miles with it running warm 3 or 4 times a year. The Baja has a small motor oil, power steering fluid and transmission fluid leak. Probably about 7 drops of fluid when left over night. Not sure where the leaks are coming from. I just keep a quart of oil in the car and check the oil every other fill up. Usually needs 1 quart every 1,000 to 1,500 miles. Baja runs very well and has never left me stranded except for a dead battery. Car runs smooth as silk when on the highway. When at a stop light and in Drive and with the AC going the car feels like it need to idle about 100 rpm higher to idle smoother. If I put it in park it is smooth as can be. So what needs to be done to the car: Windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced. Rack and pinion has a torn boot and leaks a little fluid but the power steering works fine so I would not mess with it, just check the fluid every 3,000 miles. The car leaks a little fluid so keep an eye on all the fluid levels every 1,000 miles. Has a service light on as mentioned above. Might want to replace the O2 sensor which would probably help the idle but it is not necessary. Tires and brakes are in good shape so just drive and enjoy. Rear tail gate is damaged and needs to be replaced or just leave the tailgate down. Both bumpers have a tear from trailer hitches poking holes in them. Engine runs warm every now and then, not sure why but just turn the heater on for a minute and the temperature returns to normal. Not sure if it is a head gasket, clogged radiator, trapped air in the cooling system or something else. I say just drive it like it is and enjoy Time for a new timing belt. The plastic cover that covers the bottom of the engine is long gone. Sometimes when oil leaks from the bottom of the engine it is blown back onto the catalytic converter a little smoke rises from under the car. Replace the cover and the oil will stop blowing back onto the catalytic converter. I have two remotes and four keys. The remotes stopped working a while back. I am not sure if it just needs batteries or if it is something else. That is about all I can think of but I am sure I will add more things when I think of them. Feel free to contact me and I will call you back and answer any questions you have. If you are the winning bidder you can feel safe to drive the car back to where ever you live. I know I have given a lot of information but when you drive a car everyday for 10 years and 260,000 miles you come to know the car pretty well. NOTICE: No scammers or fake cashier checks. I have sold and bought many big ticket items on ebay and know what a scam looks like so don't waste my time. Must have a ranking of at least 5 to bid on the car. I you do not then you must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel you bid. No overseas buyers. I will not finance the car so bring cash. I have clear title in hand and the Baja has a clean carfax. The car is 13 years old so is being sold "as is". Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the sale at any time. Use the "Buy it Now" option to make sure that you don't miss this Baja. I will change the oil and filter this week so you will be ready to drive your "new" car home. Randy On Jul-07-15 at 14:11:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: Some one just suggested to me that the small tears and dents on the door panels could all be recovered for around $100.
