This bike has always run fine, never had any mechanical issues while I have owned it (since 2007, the last 17k miles.) In April of 2015 I took a 3500 mile road trip to Arizona without any problems. Known defects: It has some corrosion on the aluminum parts; clutch slips a little if you powershift. No known mechanical issues other than these. The windscreen and saddle bags detach readily, if you prefer. Good tires. Routine service by Yamaha Sports Plaza in Fairview, OR in April 2015. My neighbor and riding buddy bought this bike new in 1997. I bought it from him in 2007 and have put around 17k miles on it without any mechanical problems whatsoever. When I bought it my neighbor said then that the odometer had recently broken, but he had it repaired before I took ownership, but I really have no idea how long it was actually "broken" as he had been letting his kids use it at U of Oregon. I think 48k is a reasonable guess; odometer says around 17k now. Bike is located near the Sellwood Bridge on the West side of the Willamette River in Portland.
