Up for sale is just about the rarest Lincoln Mark VI ever offered!!! A 39,781 Original miles car. When new this car as equipped was over 27K. In 1981, that is equivalent to 135K in today's money. Only 400 were built according to the Marti report. Half were built with leather and half with cloth. At the time the Signature Series interior was a no cost option, you had your choice of either leather or cloth. This car is 99% original, it was always service at the Lincoln Mercury dealership and has all its original belts and hoses and dated/numbered plug wires. The rotor and cap were the only things that ever replaced. All fluids have been maintained as well. This car sits on original Michelin XA radials, which were replaced sometime in the early 90’s. This car has ever single option Lincoln offered. In 1980 and 1981 the Signature Series was touted as the finest American car built. It feature many standard options but this one with the Signature Series package came with even more options than was available on the standard high end Mark. This Mark was owned by a Texas oil magnate and he drove it only for special events and kept it stored for almost its entire life. If anyone is in the know of Mark VI’s the 1980 and 1981 Signature Series are the only ones to own. They are Uber rare and very hard to come by. This car didn’t miss a single option, including the CB, moonroof and factory aluminum wire wheels. The Signature Series had many differences such as a special silver diamond metallic paint (only offered on the Signature Series), along with a padded deck lid to match the vinyl roof. The interior is adorned with gold fascia instead of silver and all the wood is dark Makassar Ebony with gold accents. The paint and body are almost perfect except on the right rear quarter extension where something scratched the finish. To look at the engine compartment you would be hard pressed to think of it as 34 years old. Everything works including the air (which is low on Freon and cycles on and off) still with original R-12 ( two cans off EBay should bring it back up to freezing. The car runs beautifully and has always been perfectly maintained. Many other features include the first car to ever have an 12 Key computer system which monitored all engine and brake functions as well as fuel functions and a first to have a keyless entry. This car is truly amazing. I happened upon this car by accident and knew I had found a real gem. Please note the special seat sewn pattern (exclusive to the Signature Series), completely carpeted trunk to match the interior carpet and a leather bound tool kit (included) as well as a glove box flashlight (which is missing sadly),Signature Series cloth, and reclining seats for both side as well as heated electric side mirrors and outside temperature on the mirror.I can promise you that you will be hard pressed to find a nicer one more rare example.
