Vehicle Detail
For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, hardtop with standard seats. Numbers matching car, only 3 owners (one of which was me for the last 5 years), 289 V8 2bbl carburetor, 3 speed manual transmission. For all of the Mustang followers out there, it was made in Metuchen, New Jersey, sent to a dealer in D.C., Factory paint code is Skylight Blue, Interior code is Black vinyl w/black trim, Rear axle ratio 2.80:1. Manual brakes, manual steering. Car is not running. Previous owner attempted to start a restoration, but only made it skin deep before having to call it quits. The valve covers, intake manifold, carb, air cleaner, alternator, A/C pump, etc were all removed from the engine and after sitting out in the elements the valves, springs, rockers, etc have rusted over. I have not attempted to turn the engine over. My plan was to scrap everything except for the block and rebuild, but I never made it that far. I have all of the parts removed by the previous owner still in a crate, including a NIB carburetor rebuild kit and a NIB ignition switch. Drive shaft has been removed so the car is a rolling chassis now and can be moved by hand. Body is in need of some work. Front frame rails have typical rot under battery area, a little rot on driver side at radiator shroud. Trunk frame rails have some rot, rear quarter panels behind rear tires have some rot. Gas tank was professionally removed, no replacement was put back in. Small dent on rear of passenger side of roof, approximately 8-10" in diameter. No hard creases, should be able to massage out. Paint is pretty much shot on exterior. Little dent on passenger side rear quarter panel behind tire, approximately 10", but is in area where rust is so needs to be replace anyway. Interior floor panels have some typical rot and will need some spot replacements. Most of the factory glass is in good shape, as is some of the chrome trim. Car has most, if not all, of the original factory badging. Interior is in ok shape considering the age. Factory air conditioning blower looks to be in good condition. Seat vinyl has typical wear/tear marks. Carpet is in ok shape. Headliner is starting to fall in rear of roof. I have never connected to car to power, so I have no knowledge of the condition of the car's electrical system. Car comes with original owner's manual. History: Car was sold in '65 to a Naval Academy cadet in Annapolis. It was then sold to a different Navy guy in Southern Maryland who had it from late 70's until 2010, and then to me (another former Navy guy) also in Southern Maryland. It does not appear to have been in any major accidents. Legal bit: Car is sold as is, no warranty written or implied. There are no returns, no refunds, and all sales are final. All buyers should ask questions before bidding. Payment must be made within 5 days from auction end. A non-refundable deposit of $200 via PayPal is due within 48 hours of auction end. Seller will only accept certified check or cash as payment. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements, vehicle pick-ups, and complete cost of shipping. Seller will assist buyer by being there for a shipping company at the time of vehicle shipping if applicable. Car will not be released to buyer until payment has cleared.
