Vehicle Detail
For auction is my 1997 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas Long Wheel Base sedan with just under 66,000 miles. The last of the venerable straight six Jaguar engine models, it is sapphire metallic blue with a marvelous ivory/beige interior. It looks as if no one ever sat in the back seats or used the picnic tables. Never smoked in. The driver and passenger seats are excellent for a 60k + car. Original sheepskin floor mats included. There is no headliner "droop." I am the third owner and, at age 62, the youngest one by 15 years. In Richmond, VA now, its previous locale was Naples, FL. I purchased from a retired golf pro and drove it 1,000 miles back to Richmond. This car covers the miles in remarkable silence, luxury and conveys a sense of serene solidness and security to all occupants. The exterior is very good to good - and I believe that I am being conservative in my description. The car shines beautifully and draws the eye. There are a few minor "Dent Wizard" type flaws. There is a pic of a dent on the left front headlight surround. That is as bad as anything is and no breaks in the paint. Some spider webbing in some paint areas and the right and left rear quarter panels look like some fading has occurred...but not the trunk surface. I cannot say for sure if there ever was any repainting but it would be odd to have the quarter panels painted but not the trunk. In any event this was the condition when I bought the car a couple of years ago, and the other attributes of the car such as beautiful interior, wood, tables and overall condition offset any body flaws for me. Please examine the photos closely and bid accordingly. Other issues: the 'normal' speed wiper function is inoperative though the fast and intermittent and washer work fine. It worked when I purchased the car but I believe the steering column mounted switch has a short or other problem. Estimated repair is around $430. There are a couple of loose air vent slats in the center dash. LED clock fades in and out - common to these models. Some normal oil drippings noted. The AC blows cold, sunroof, fog lamps, electric windows, seats and steering column function flawlessly. Jaguar CD changer in the trunk. I had the 60,000 mile service performed at 60,733 in January 2014. Tires have about 6,000 miles on them. Wheels are very good to excellent with a small amount of curb rash. New battery in April 2015. Books, original book sleeve, two keys, one remote and a 1997 Jaguar promotional brochure cap the package. This is a wonderful luxury cruiser that has served me well. I have taken it on several 600 mile round trips to visit my son and arrived at both ends completely relaxed. It has also served yeoman duty touring the Virginia wine country with friends. But pretty much this has been a second car, sunny day, go out to dinner driver and has been garaged. These nice Jags are a lot of car for the money, the straight six engine is bullet proof and this low mileage example has been much admired by friends, strangers, valets and attendees at a European car show held annually in Richmond. I have sold a number of nice vehicles on eBay but am just an individual car enthusiast...who is downsizing life for more travel. My feedback shows happy buyers of some high dollar items so bid with confidence and feel free to ask any questions. Low starting bid. Buy It Now acquires for you a wonderful mode of transport with many more miles to go. Fly in, drive away or I will be happy to drive the car to a nearby shipping pickup point that I have used before - to deliver to your selected vehicle transporter. On May-19-15 at 10:05:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I had the paint examined and there has been paint work but no record of accidents. As I mentioned, the car looked as it does now when I purchased it and in my opinion it looks beautiful. Also, the wheels are excellent except very minor rash on RF wheel. The auto Check says seven owners but I believe it is counting re-registrations as a new owner. Though in the above description regarding paint, I said to 'bid accordingly,' I have lowered both the Buy It Now price and the reserve to account for this information.
