Known to some as the AMC Pacer of the 21st century, the quirky, less than well-appointed (as far as luxury amenities go) first electric gasoline hybrid rolled onto American streets. In the years since, the car that still looks futuristic, has won the hearts of many who consider it a challenge to bump the lifetime mpg rating one tenth of a mile higher. The color most often seen adorning the Insight was silver, followed by red and last but not least, dark blue. But there was one more, the 2000 Honda Insight in “Citrus Yellow.’ Whether there was a shortage of this brilliant color or someone in the front office said, “What is THAT color called!?” only 1250 were painted with the now most desirable color of all, Citrus Yellow. 2000 was the only year these were available. Among Insight enthusiasts, this one is the Holy Grail! We know that a maximum of only 1249 of these are still in existence as one was crushed in the Robin Williams film, “RV” where the behemoth rolling turd crushed the Citrus Yellow Insight in the Colorado scene near the end of the movie. Regardless, the Yellow Citrus Insight you see is for sale at no reserve beginning at one penny. This is my fourth Insight and the only Citrus Yellow one I have had. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to snatch it up. Here are the stats:Tires are near new. (As far as tires go, these cars are so light that a good set of tires will last you up to 80,000 miles)THE 3RD TO 2ND SYNCHRO WORKS FINE!!! Many Insights suffered the dreaded 3rd to 2nd downshift grind due to synchros that went bad. This one is just fine and all gears shift up and down smoothly!Lifetime Fuel mileage is 52.1 mpgClutch is strongA/C is ICE COLD!!!Power windows work finePower mirrors work on both sidesWindshield is in very good condition with no cracks or chipsHeadliner is in excellent condition with no stains, tears, rips or hang downsRear hatch lifts work fine and hold the hatch upNon SmokerBattery is charging and dischargingBattery assist works fineAuto Stop functions properlyPower locks work as well as the key fobMinimal wear on drivers seat and almost no wear on passengerCarpets are in good condition with no rips or tears and has good Insight car mats on both sides and in the rear hatch areaNew 12 Volt BatteryNew Front Brake padsFresh Oil Change with recommended 0W-20 oilNo cracks/scuffs in the dashSpare tire has never been on the groundAs I said, the battery charges and discharges but on a long hill today, it went down to zero. It began charging up after I got back on level ground. This is most likely the original battery. The check engine light is on due to a faulty O2 sensor. There is a little bit of an exhaust leak, but considering you can't even hear the car when its running, you can hear a little "putt putt" with the leak. VERY MINOR LEAK. Overall this is a very nice car The worst scratch is below the knee on the passenger door near the front fender. There are very few rock chips/parking lot pimples. The lifetime mpg of 52.1 and the 197,000 on the clock (an average of only 13,000 miles per year) indicates this was an in town driven car. A commuter would most likely have higher mpg, more miles per year and lots of rock chips.
