I was a Maico dealer in the late 1970s and early 1980s. About 10 years ago I got out two 1981s and decided to built two really good ones. I build one which I raced until recently using good parts. But the best parts I saved for my collector bike which I never really intended to ride. This is that bike. It has lots of extras [expensive] and new bearings, pistons, etc. Also the following are new/ tires Buchanan spokes Maico Only pipe Maico Only muffler Maico Only rear brake lever Maico Only footrests Maico Only rear chain guide Maico Only rear braking plate New number plates New fenders Powder coated frame Powder coated hubs New Magura levers The front forks were rebuilt.
