Vehicle Detail

For auction is this 2009 BMW HP2 Megamoto with 11700 miles. Excellent condition nice running machine.Adult owned and ridden. Never been down or dropped. This bike has the following options: ABS braking systemUnderworld Handlebar risers 120.00 Leo vince Carbon fiber valve covers protectors 214.00 Scott Steering damper 499.00 Wunderlich Windshield 110.00 Renazco Seat 400.00 The following is from an article on the Megamotor: At first, it seemed like a bit of silliness, this whole giant motard thing. What did a BMW flat-Twin have to do with a converted dirtbike running on 17-inch wheels? Well, it was surprising to find the upsizing recipe worked so well for this class of streetbike. In the case of the BMW, the HP2 Mega is based on the HP2 enduro launched in 2006, the world’s wackiest and most expensive dual-sport bike. And its conversion to pure street duty and Megamotoness takes the predictable course with the switch to 17-inch cast wheels with griptastic 120/70 and 180/55 sport rubber, a spiffy Akrapovic exhaust and a mini-fairing with the Cyclops-and-a-half headlight. Cooler features include the exposed steel-tube frame, inverted telescopic fork and Öhlins shock. The triple-disc brakes are superb and use braided lines at the front. ABS is a $1000 option on top of a $20,520 price tag. The bars are quite wide, too, and even when you’ve got your feet up on the dirtbike-like clawed footpegs, you’re never cramped for space. Power from the 1170cc engine is snappy and fun. The claimed 113 horsepower is delivered, however, with predictable strength and vigor, while being accompanied by excellent torque. This 11.0:1-compression, high-lift-cam, air/oil-cooled special is not at all like your average Boxer fare. The latter engines are satisfying if somewhat stoic; this one runs as though a mad German scientist was in charge of tuning. Same goes for the chassis. Okay, it’s a big, tall bike, and that wheelbase stretches out to 63.4 inches. But the front-end geometry is intended to keep things reasonably lively (28.4 degrees rake/3.7 inches trail), so as the road gets tighter, things get better and better. It is stable in high-speed sweepers, yes, but wide bars and the in-command riding position favor quick flicks and rapid directional changes. The perch-like highness of this type of bike always feels a bit strange as you take the first few corners, but soon you realize that the extra suspension travel and altitude make deep lean on bumpy roads your path of choice, and it all feels quite natural. So, like the other bikes in this class, the BMW Megamoto is just a tall version of a standard with vaguely dirtbike-like styling and a bitchin’ motor. Superb fun, in other words. The latest Euro spec HP2 Enduro VIN number recognised on RealOEM.com is - ZL02516 showing as an August 2006 build date. The earliest US spec HP2 Enduro VIN number I can find is - ZL10000 showing as an August 2004 build date. The latest US spec HP2 Enduro frame number recognised is - ZL10392 showing as an August 2006 build date. That would imply just over 2,500 Euro spec HP2 Enduro's built and another 393 US spec bikes, bringing the total HP2E's to around 3,000. HP2 Megamoto - The earliest Euro spec HP2 Megamoto VIN number is ZT95000 showing as an August 2006 build date. The latest Euro spec HP2 Megamoto frame number recognised is - ZT96363 showing as a July 2008 build date. The records only go up to August 2008, so there may be more Megamoto's, but would imply just over 1,300 Euro Megamato's built so far. Based on Naked Rider's US VIN number, the earliest US spec HP2 Megamoto is ZK99500 showing as an August 2006 build date. The latest US spec VIN HP2 Megamoto I can find is ZK99585 showing as a March 2008 build date. That makes only 85 US spec HP2 Megagmoto's, so less than 1,400 in total, or less than half the number of Enduro's. As mentioned earlier, RealOEM.com's database only goes up to August 2008, so there could be a few more Megamoto's, but unlikely to be any more Enduro's.On May-08-15 at 06:08:35 PDT, seller added the following information: If you are looking for a cool and collectable bike this is a good candidate. As there were only 85 US HP 2 Megamotos produced. Aabout 30 of these were built with ABS to the best of my knowledge. This is my last Megamoto and probably one of the only that has not be ridden hard and has been well maintained. Please note in the pictures the frame is not scuffed about the pegs.I think the only scratch on the bike is on the left side valve cover when it was leaned against another bikes footpeg in my shop. Other than that the bike is about nick and scratch free. Certainly nothing through the paint.I can also supply detail pictures if needed. Just contact me.Thank you for your interest.
