1980 Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel 4 speed 1980 Vw Rabbit 1.5 liter 4 cylinder diesel non-turbo engine - odometer says 10,000 - so assume 110k miles? Manual 4 speed transmission. Starts and runs awesome !!! Previous owners son painted the exterior John Deere Green and even painted the 13" steel rims yellow to complete the John Deere - Theme. The door jams , floors , engine bay are the original Mountain Green which is a one year only Color offered in 1980. The title is a clear / original Nebraska - in the " Legends " it says " Previous Salvage " - The car does have a lot of bumps and bruises - previous owner told me it has a previous salvage notation due to the car being a donated car to the Kidney Foundation and was not donated with the proper paperwork / title - so it was branded Previous salvage. That is the story i got why it is " salvage " the front fenders both seem to have bondo in the them , the front of the hood has dents and the lower rocker area of the driver fender is dented. The front core support has a small tweak above passenger headlight and the front bumper sits a little crooked.. but take in consideration this is a 35 year old car... There is no visible rust , rot or other obvious history of major damage. The door jams / rockers are clean , floor pans are clean and the spare tire well under the carpet is clean original Mountain Green Paint.... The interior is awesome - one small crack in center of the dash - a nice Blaupunkt Am / Fm radio with some older 4" Pioneer speakers in the doors - Door panels , headliners and even the carpet is awesome. Seats have some wear and light tears but again , this is a 35 year old VW that is meant to be driven.... the seats are comfortable with the foam still supporting like they should. This car does NOT have factory Air Conditioning so the engine bay is CLEAN and easy to work on - previous owner told me he did the timing belt a few years ago and it did NOT get driven much , he also just recently changed the oil. There is some surface flaking of the Mountain Green Paint on the top of the strut towers - but there is no RUST HOLES or ROT on them. Once Glow Plug light goes off - this car starts right up... idles great, brakes work awesome - Emergency brake cable / handle does NOT work - i have not looked into it.... The rear parcel tray shelf cover is missing the carpet on the top of it - it is there.... Missing the front VW Emblem on the aftermarket grill.. The pinch welds under the car are in great condition... This car gets a lot of attention when driving around, probably because i am in Nebraska and everyone loves their John Deere's.. I always get thumbs up and waves from people when cruising around town. The kids love it when i pick them up from school in the car as the Elementary and High School kids always point and wave... I currently have 10+ Volkswagen Diesels - this is one of two that actually run and drive so i decided to sell it. As no one else wants my other unfinished projects. This car is reliable and solid base to enjoy for a long time... You will not be disappointed.
