FOR SALE BY OWNER I am selling a 1996 Mazda Protege LX 4 Door Sedan with 1.5 L engine. THIS CAR RUNS/DRIVES BUT IT IS BEING SOLD AS-IS. No warranties, No guarantees, No Promises, NO RETURNS! VERY LOW MILEAGE, LESS THAN 85,500 miles on this car! I have all of my service records. This car has power windows, power locks, power steering, cassette player, AM/FM radio, cruise control. This car gets great mileage, about 24 MPG city, 27 mpg combined (city+hwy average). Changed front struts and strut mounts in 2009, new muffler 2009, new radiator 2009, new thermostat 2009. Major tune up performed in January 2009. In February 2013, I had new tires installed and the battery replaced. Interior is very clean, minimal wear and tear. There is white paint that the previous owner used to cover rusty areas on the front passenger door, rear passenger door and rear bumper. You would probably want to repaint this, if aesthetic appearance is important to you. In my case, I was happy to easily locate my car in the crowded parking lots using these unique features. REPAIRS NEEDED: Heat works well but the air conditioner stopped working a couple years ago. It used to work very well until the mechanic said the car needs an Air Flow Sensor and that the 3rd Cylinder is misfiring. The misfiring on the 3rd cylinder causes the car to shift back and forth between 3 and 1 RPM after 20 minutes of driving. After I found out that it needs a new exhaust pipeline (muffler) last week, I decided to let it go. All of the above issues are easy fixes in the right hands!
