Up for auction today we have what appears to be a 68 Camaro 396 RS SS PROJECT.! Or a very expensive pile of parts. I believe it was a small block car based only on the heater hose location through the firewall. BUT, I do not claim to be a Camaro expert! There are no brake lines, fuel lines or any other identifying markers, although it does appear to have heavier springs in it. You can decide. Clear title and matching vin. # on the shell. No Trim Tag... They are reproduced so pick your colors. If that is a problem for you please look elsewhere for your next project. First off, I did not take this car apart, I got it in a trade deal so I don't know the history or why the project stalled where it did. It was a pile of parts that I reassembled to what you see here. I will describe the car as I see it sitting in front of me. It appears to have been stripped bare and blasted top to bottom leaving no trace of its original color. The right front fender and hood are black with traces of yellow under the fender, but the title says black... Who knows! So with out the trim tag you get to choose your colors and order the tag to match. AGAIN, If the missing trim tag is an issue with you than I suggest you look elsewhere for your Project. I am not going to argue over the validity of the car because of the missing tag, if you know Camaro's you know 68's are not verifiable with the trim tag. I am selling what's in front of me as the car sits. YES it needs a COMPLETE RESTORATION... The floor, trunk and quarter skins WERE replaced in the PAST but they'll need replaced AGAIN. Lets look at the parts with the car. I think this is the true value of this car. 1.Clear title and matching vin. # 's 2. RS SS body. 3. 402 big block engine & Muncie 4 speed M-21 ? Yes they'll need rebuilt. I know nothing of their condition. 4. Complete power Disc brake, manual steering, 4 speed sub frame. 5. 12 bolt Limited Slip rear axle, code BE...I think. Good drive shaft. 6. Deluxe interior with black and white Hounds tooth seats. yes ,they'll need recovered.( Remember this is a Project.) SS steering wheel. Tic Toc Tach. w/ a 5500 RPM redline. Console (not complete) 7. I have all the glass but the front windshield. 8. RS door top chrome trim in nice shape. window trim in good shape. 9. Big block heater box. 10 Deluxe door panels. 11. clutch pedals. and 4- 8" Corvette rally wheels w trim and junk tires. 12. SS grille and RS headlight buckets, (not complete). 13. Near perfect SS hood. 14. usable fenders, L side looks to be a replacement. R. side is rough but usable and shows the Rally sport emblem and 396 emblem. 15. Good doors, the R. side looks to have had a new skin installed. 16. The quarters need replaced. I see holes for the vinyl top trim that have been welded shut. The window channels and roof skin look solid with just a couple of dents. L rocker is good , the right rocker should be replaced. The deck lid is usable but that's up to you. The trunk floor was replaced at some point and needs to be replaced again. Frame rails are solid. Rear taillight panel is dented, but solid. The car rolls easily for loading. Here is the list of what I don't see with the car. Front windshield, front bumper, front wheel wells, gas tank, bell housing, distributor, manifolds, rad.& shroud, misc. small chrome and lenses.
