For the 35th anniversary of the Mustang, Ford put out a limited run of special Mustang GT convertibles. This is possibly the finest I have seen, having been driven just 14,850 original miles since new and having led the kind of easy life that we dream of. And as a Mustang, it's equally important that it isn't modified and hasn't been raced, making this the perfect addition to your Mustang collection. The car was owned by a mature collector who preserved the car in an air climate controlled garage. In 1999, if you wanted a special Mustang, you bought a GT then added the $2695 54Y option group, which transformed the garden-variety GT into something truly special. The Performance Red paint was unique to the Anniversary model and only 2310 Anniversary convertibles built and this one is Performance Red, so in today's mass-production terms, this is a very rare bird. It's also incredibly well preserved, with a brilliant shine and no evidence of bodywork in its Autocheck history report, which is shown in the gallery below, so it feels and its cabin smells almost like a new car. The spoiler hasn't been abused by steep driveways and the lower cladding with stripes along the rockers give the GT a long, low look that still looks great today, 15 years later. Ford really got it right here, making it special without going overboard. A set of Nitto tires were installed for better performance. The two-tone silver and black leather interior was another part of the 54Y option group and it matches very well in the convertible pony. The leather is in great shape, no comfort marks or cracking from the sun. The standard instrument panel got a matching silver insert with small 35th Anniversary lettering, as well as a pony insignia stitched to the fine leather inside. It came loaded with just about every possible option, including A/C, power windows and locks, a power driver's seat, cruise control, a tilt wheel, and even a rear defroster in the convertible top. The original stereo has been replaced by a Pioneer touch screen with Ipod capabilities. I have both original stack radio and CD player as well as the original dash piece which came with the car new. I have the original boot still in the original plastic and never used except for purposes of the photo gallery below. Ford's sturdy 4.6 liter V8 is standard with GT-specs, it lacks no power at all. Having being a fan of horsepower tuners, I have a horsepower booster for this car in the box-never used which will come along with the sale of the car. This one is stock so it runs beautifully and doesn't hold any surprises for the new owner. The engine bay is extremely clean and obviously hasn't seen any inclement weather and it's original right down to the hose clamps. The car has never left Florida and it shows. The bottom line here is this is the finest Mustang of its kind available in the world. For the asking price, the car a simply a STEAL and will never be offered again. I feel very proud to offer the ebay community such a car. With just 14,850 miles on it, it's barely broken-in and the car feels quite fresh and new on the road. Many Mustang owners are tempted by the roar of the factory exhaust, this one remains stock so it has a bit of a burble but never gets annoying. Special Anniversary wheels with gray inserts give it a unique look and carry recent performance radials. One item worth mentioning is that the car has been upgraded with HID Xenon headlight capsules and high performance matching tail lenses to give the car a Saleen look, I have all the original lenses in the box for originality purposes. I also have the original one owner title dated 6/4/1999 along with the original bill of sale, window sticker, build sheet , original shipping charter and both key card numbers, both sets of keys as well as an original 1999 plastic laminated brochure. The owners books are still in the plastic, having never been opened or touched by human hands. Who ever heard of such a thing ?
