Vehicle Detail

1979 Porsche 911/930 Turbo Coupe Chassis No. 9309800303 Guards Red Highly Coveted 1970s Porsche 930 TurboLast U.S. Spec 930 model until the mid-1980'sNumbers-Matching Throughout Low Mileage only 43000Garage keptComplete with Original Manual, Tools, Jack & service recordComplete service documentation Porsche's initial work with turbocharged racing cars in the 1960s led to a turbocharged version of the 911, though it was originally intended for racing, the market demanded that Porsche produce road-going versions. Suspension refinements, larger brakes and a strengthened four-speed gearbox rounded out the package, which included a functional "whale-tail" rear spoiler, wider rear wheels, upgraded tires, and flared rear wheel wells. Simply called the "Turbo", it was released in 1975 with export to the U.S. starting in 1976. The 930 (internal designation) proved fast but demanding; however, skilled drivers quickly learned how to drive it properly and beyond the limits of most other sports cars. Built in December of 1978, this non-catalyst 1979 Turbo produced for the North American market in West Germany is equipped with electric sliding sunroof and air conditioner, Blauepunkt AM/FM cassette, headlight washers and wipers. The coupe is original Guards Red over dark chocolate and herringbone upholstery, the interior color is very dark is sometime mistaken for black from the outside. The paint is original, except for the front spoiler and wheels. It does have a few dings but I did not want to repaint because overall quality of the paint especially for a 35 year old car. The front spoiler was replaced with an after market front spoiler (see pictures) to permit the installation of a full frontal oil cooler. When replaced the original spoiler was boxed and saved and does comes with the car. The turbo was just rebuilt and runs and sounds great. The interior's upholstery is original and remains unmodified except for shifter. When I purchased the car, the front seats had been replaced by the previous owner with dark chocolate all leather after market buckets which matched the interior but did not have the herringbone inserts of the original. The original seats were also wrapped and placed in storage until just recently when I reinstalled so they are in outstanding condition. The car has been regularly serviced, including oil changes, tune-ups, etc. with the receipts organized and placed in a three ring binder that goes with the car. (see picture) The clutch/presser plate was replaced and has less then 2500 miles. Since the car has not been repainted all of the original identification sticker are in tact. The luggage bay is equipped with its factory tool roll (see pictures) and as far as I know original material. As Porsche's opposition to the big Italians, the highly coveted Porsche Turbo of the 1970's is a sports car legend of the era. And, at the time, was the fastest general production car being produced. (zero to 60 in under 5 sec.) This car has been garage kept and shows it.It is a solid example for those seeking an honest, original and final-year of the original U.S. spec 930 model - ideal for continued collectivity and enjoyment. Note- The pictures were taken a few months back before winter weather. I have not taken pictures of all the the receipts, to many. Unfortunately I used an iPhone so the color of the car seem to be some what off. The car does not have a orange tint as it seems in some of the pictures. Being sold "AS-IS" "WHERE-IS" and with NO WARRANTIES. By bidding, you are committing to purchase this vehicle, and not the option to withdraw.
