Vehicle Detail

Photos:1989 Ford Taurus SHO MTX 3.2L I love the Taurus SHO. So why am I offering it up? I have 11 vehicles and it's time to sell most of them and shift my focus to other activities. The SHO does so many things well. It's very ergonomic with driver and passenger 8 way adjustable seats, power windows, doors, cruise control, and automatic headlights. The car stops very well thanks to 12.5" vented front discs with dual piston calipers and stainless lines. It corners like it's on rails thanks to Eibach springs, Koni adjustable struts, a Quaife LSD, and tuned anti-roll bars. It's a beautiful car. I'm the 3rd owner of this SHO and have been driving it to work on Fridays for the last 10 years (1,000 miles a year) and tracked it on a road course 5 times. I have never drag raced the car since it drives me nuts to wait three hours to drive a car 3 times for a few seconds. The concept behind the car is to make it better than factory in power, suspension, and braking without giving away the factory look that I favor. As such, there is little to give away it's excellent handling capabilities. I have meticulously maintained the car using Japanese and factory parts and have full maintenance records. The car was originally from Washington State, but has been in California for the last 10 years. There are no rust issues with the car as you can see in the photos. HandlingThis SHO has a lifetime guaranteed Quaife limited slip differential (warranty follows the differential) that equates to probably 60% of it's handling improvement. The Quaife removes the front wheel drive's tendency towards under-steer (push) by constantly varying the power output to ensure that the wheel with the most grip receives the most torque. That means that this car will absolutely drive you around a corner. The car starts to push and then you can mash the go pedal and the outside wheel will power you right into an apex instead of pushing out. After testing the suspension, I tweaked the damper settings and changed out the anti-roll bars to optimize the ride. This car is sorted. EngineThe dyno chart shows 225 HP at the wheels, which roughly equates to 250 HP at the flywheel. All of the difficult work has been accomplished. Nick Chrimes of BaySHO Performance performed a 3.2L engine swap, which requires breaking both the new and old engines down to the short blocks and swapping the accessory drives. The rod bearings were changed, all of the gaskets were replaced with the highest quality available parts, new sensors were installed, and new hoses and belts as well. The process was documented with photographs. All of the car's documentation will be available to the buyer on optical media. PaintThe factory original Currant Red paint is in very good condition for its age. There are a few scrapes here and there and chips under the front right where you'd expect to find them. This isn't a clear-coated color, so the paint is very easy to repair. The hood is a carbon fiber hood repainted to match the original paint. The original Currant Red steel hood comes with the car. Electrical PartsAll electrical functions of the car work: Power Windows, Doors, Seats; including the power lumbar and side bolsters ExtrasI have lots of extra parts and the Rotunda specialty tools that I have collected over the years. I'd be happy to load up the trunk with parts, although the Rotunda tools will cost something extra. The new buyer gets the first shot at these parts. On Dec-25-14 at 15:43:23 PST, seller added the following information: I have finished publishing the maintenance records and they are located here: http://www.hotpursuit.net/HotPursuit/Driving/Projects/89TaurusSHO/Maint.aspMy records actually have 12 columns, but for brevity, some of the columns are not included. Notably missing are the previous owner's names, dollar amounts, and part numbers. On Dec-26-14 at 16:08:36 PST, seller added the following information: The ODOMETER READING in the listing is INCORRECT. The SHO actually has 162,893 miles on the odometer. If you would like to retract your bid, I have no problem with that I completely understand.  Sorry for the error.  144,455 is the mileage the car had on it when I bought it ten years ago.  The engine had 98,346 miles on it when the engine was installed in 2009.
