For Sale: 1999 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG 145k miles Pretty clean car in very good shape for the year and miles. Hand built motor, AMG tuned chassis. If you are looking at this ad chances are you know what you are looking at. Some of the positives: Drives very well, engine is very healthy, so is the transmission. Starts right up idles perfectly and when you put your foot down goes along as it was intended up to 155mph ... limited unfortunately on the W210s. Transmission shifts beautifully through the gear without any hesitations or hard shifts, shifts are smooth without any slips. Suspension feels pretty tight and is free of any major play lots of components were recently replaced. The car has a firm ride and it can get a bit annoying in NYC to swerve around every single pothole. This is not an E320, this is an AMG tuned Machine and was intended for smooth roads. Unfortunately we can not enjoy this car to it's full potential in the city but once on the open road where you can stretch it's legs it feels right at home. Some of the most Recent work includes: Shocks all around (picture included) Bilstein OEM 3k miles Front Lower Control Arms (Both) 3k miles Front Pads and Rotors in the last 10k miles Outer Tie Rods 3k miles Serpentine Belt 10k miles Brand new wheels and tires 3k miles Brand new Alpine Head unit with SiriusXM Valve Cover Gaskets Changed (Picture of Both Heads Below) 200 miles ago Oil Filter Housing Gasket Changed due to leak (Picture Included) 200 miles ago Oil Change 200 miles ago Detail 15 miles ago The Not So Good: Left outside mirror works, the motor the heating element and the housing are all in tact. Someone hit it when parked and the mounting portion broke so the glass is being held down by a zip tie. Blasphemy I know. Passenger seat adjustment thingy that is in the door seems to not function properly, if you push the seat bottom in reverse it goes forward and if you push it forward it goes forward. In memory 1 the seat is almost all the way back, I have just used that it never bothered me but it will need a switch which costs around 30$ on ebay. Also the wood trim around that switch on top started to peel back a bit. Some genius figured it would be cool to put some ebay taillights on an AMG car. Now I am stuck with half an OE set that I could find but I can not find the inner pieces for the trunk lid, and I absolutely refuse to go to the dealer to pay 200$ for them. In terms of keeping up with the W210 body, this one has some typical minor rust bubbling, I have done my best to include pictures of everything. Nothing is underneath the car in terms of structural rust, all is minor superficial on the outside of the car in the typical W210 areas. (Trunk lid near key hole and on top of license plate lights, Right rear tail light right under it has a small bubble, right rear quarter where the bumper meets has a minor bubble, left front fender at the very bottom near the side skirt has a small rust bubble.) Keep in mind this is still covered by paint so unless you are looking for it you will not find it. And no the spring mounts in the front have no rust on them they are solid ... like I said everything underneath the car is in great shape. Otherwise the car is in very good shape, it has no water leaks, everything works, I would not hesitate driving it to Florida tomorrow. Now on to the pictures I am including both day and night photos to show the depth of the paint and how good it still looks after all these years.
