1980 Cadillac Eldorado - 60,000 Miles New York State residents please know your restrictions when bidding on this vehicle. At the last NY State inspection, a few months ago, the recorded mileage on the back of the sticker was 59,983. The current odometer reading is not much more. Unfortunately since this yellow "Emissions" tag popped up, I can read the odometer. I am trying to figure out how to reset it and make the odometer readable - any suggestions? The shift handle has some play in it, but it runs and drives really well for an old car. This car was originally a diesel engine but it was converted to gasoline years ago. The original owner passed away recently and his brother inherited the car. I bought it from the brother after he received the new title. Radio works but I will have to dig up an old 8-track tape to see if that works. The car was in a garage all it's life except for the past year. Interior is in showroom condition. Body is straight - no rust. Paint is not too shiny anymore, but a compound and wax job will probably bring it out. It looks like original paint and it should clean up. The paint does have some minor flaws, but is very presentable. I drove it home in the rain about 10 miles at highway speeds. It drives nice, wipers work but I could not get the defrost to work. This vehicle has rear air shocks. Chrome looks very good, but the rubber/plastic inserts are starting to deteriorate. Bid with confidence and drive it home. This car will not pass NY State inspection at this time because the horn does not work and a rear caliper is a little wet with brake fluid. The brakes feel just fine (have not had to add brake fluid) and the tires are fine. This car is going to the highest bidder. No Reserve! No Buy It Now! New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will easily pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy.
