RARE! 1983 Chevrolet Luv 4x4 DieselHere is your chance to own a very rare find. This is basically a one owner truck. The original owner had this truck and another almost just like it up until 2013. He was elderly and sold both trucks to a gentleman that simply purchased them for resale. I bought the truck from the second owner whom only had it for just over a year.This truck has lived in Georgia its entire life until sold to the guy from Alabama. The truck is rust-free except for a little area in the drivers floor pan which is not very bad at all. The body is very straight and has good paint. The day I bought this truck I put brand tires on it and they now have about 300 miles on them.The guy from Alabama owned the truck when the odometer stopped working at 125,999 miles. The odometer simply would not roll over to 126,000. The funny thing is that the tenths meter still rolls around but the miles do not roll over. He estimates the mileage to be about 130,000 based on when it stopped working and that he only drove it to work and back. I have no proof of this but his story adds up based the vehicle condition and looking at clutch, brake, and gas pedals wear.The engine cranks right up in cold weather and she purrs like a cat and gets amazing fuel mileage. Absolutely no blow-by even when she is good and warm. The truck has power steering and a 4 speed manual transmission that drives down the road straight and smooth just it as probably did 30 years ago. The 4WD hubs and shifter work just as it should. The truck is all original except for a few added toggle switches that control fog lights, rear bumper lights, etc... The truck has standard roll up windows and vinyl floor. All the lights, blinkers, wipers, etc.. are working as should. The interior is very nice and clean with a solid dash, door trim, headliner, seat cover, etc ... and it has not been smoked in.I have described a pretty extensive list of the "good" about the truck. The "bad" list is pretty short. As stated above - it has good paint but the paint job was not as a professional job as I would have had done on it. When I purchased the truck it had a water leak that evidently had been leaking for some time based on the corrosion running down the side of the engine. I had new gaskets put on and all is well now. My mechanic did tell me that if I chose to keep the truck then he would suggest replacing belts and hoses just for preventive measures. One of the hoses does have a small leak that should be replaced. I have not driven a straight shift in years and I do have a little trouble going from 1st gear to second unless I fully extend 1st gear. That may just be normal for a small diesel engine (by the way, It has a 2.2L 4cyl.). The rear bumper could use a little pounding with a rubber hammer but nothing serious. The truck has factory A/C that is working perfect but the truck does need the heater core replaced. When I purchased it the guy gave me a brand new heater core but I have not had it installed.All in all this truck is very nice and should make someone a very dependable and long lasting truck for 100's of thousands of miles. With just a small amount of TLC this truck will not only hold its value but should keep climbing through the years. This is a rare find with the low miles, one owner, diesel, and combined with the 4WD. Don't let this one slip away because chances are you will not ever see another like it.I hope that I have described this little jewel so well that you will not have any questions.
