Vehicle Detail
Very clean 1989 Mustang GT convertible. 5.0L selling with NO RESERVE I bought this Mustang a few years back from a Ford Racing Engineer. My plan was to take this car and make it into a perfect sleeper convertible. I spent countless hours building it into the car it is, however, I have two other Mustangs and a Camaro that I race regularly so this car has been sitting covered in my heated shop taking up space for the last two years. I have too many projects and I'm ready to let somebody else enjoy it. This is one of the cleanest cars of this era, no rust, body lines are all straight, body is damn near flawless for being over 25 years old. The engine is a stock bore and stroke 302 with forged pistons, Trick Flow twisted wedge heads, roller rockers, ARP head bolts, MLS head gaskets with a Cobra intake that has been Extrude honed. The supercharger is a Vortech race T-trim, making 12# of boost. To help keep the intake charge in check is a AIS meth injection kit, utilizing 2 nozzles, one pre blower and one at the throttle body. This is a upgraded kit with an actual cell in the trunk with a self contained pump, not the cheap ebay kits. The engine has 32# injectors, a in tank 255lph fuel pump and FMU for boost reference. The PCM is controlled by a Ford Racing EPEC stand alone processor. I have the original laptop, disks, manual and directions so you can retune the car at anytime. Yes I'm including it with the vehicle. The timing cover, chain, gears and water pump are all new. There are also billet aluminum smog and AC eliminator pulleys on this engine to free up the residual hp loss. The cooling system is very robust, thick aluminum radiator, HD high flow clutch and fan, never goes above 190 no matter the outside temp, even stuck in the dream cruise, stays 190! The transmission is a Donnie Walsh World class T5, with a new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel that he spec'd out for this combo. The drive shaft is a Ford Racing aluminum shaft. I have also installed a drive shaft safety loop, full length weld-in subframe connectors, seat braces and welded up rear control arm torque boxes so that the car was ready to take the power without issue. The brakes are all new front and rear. The tires are new front and rear, the rears are Nitto drag radials. The rear axle is a 8.8 with 3:73 gears and a very tight Ford Racing clutch pack. The rear upper and lower control arms are tubular with urethane bushings. To keep the inside clean, there is only one aftermarket gauge. I have a boost gauge on the a-pillar at the very bottom, so as not to stand out. I just replaced the battery and gave it a fresh oil change with Brad Penn 10W40. The car was tuned to use 91 octane fuel so that it can be driven anywhere. I'm adding a bunch of pictures so you can truly see the car for what it is.
