Vehicle Detail

This is a rare Jaguar Coupe. It was only built for 3 years, 1975,76,77 and limited number were built. I have always thought it was a very lovely hardtop and found this one in N. California in 1999. I bought it from the second owner who was using it as a daily driver. He had the car resprayed in the original Regent Red color with 2 part paint. He used an independent Jag mechanic who I talked to before completing the purchase. I subsequently moved to N. Nevada where the car has been garaged since. Over the years I've fixed little things as needed. The drivers door sagged a bit so got new hinges which were a bear to install. It required removing the front fender but fixed the problem. The car came to the US with dual 5" headlights where the UK cars had 7" outside lights and I installed these. The car did not have a right side rearview mirror so got one from the UK and installed it. I put poly bushings in the front end which helped the steering very much. The paint has held up well. The interior is Biscuit leather which has no rips or open seems but could use some sprucing up. I've tried several leather treatments but am told that the series III cars of this era do not have high quality leather so it is pretty stiff. You can feel the seat back locking mechanism when you lean back in the seat. This is stuffed with horsehair so could use some additional stuffing. The wood dash does not appear to be cracked but the lacquer coating is. The dry NV climate hasn't help this. The speedo does some bouncing around until the car warms up. Might need a new cable. The Borq-Warner transmission can have some clunky shifts at times but could probably be adjusted. I have a spare transmission that goes with the car. The weather stripping on the side windows should be replaced. I bought what was supposed to be the correct stuff but my mechanic said it looked too big. The radio has been replaced with an AM/FM cassette deck that works. The power antenna doesn't work but can be manually extended. I had a young mechanic help me with the car and he was from an area that didn't require smog checks and I was living in a part of NV that didn't either so we removed some of the smog equipment but I've save all the parts so it can all be put back. I've licensed the car as a NV Classic so no smog required if driven less the 5000miles/year. The car passed CA smog in 2000. I wanted to replace the under-hood insulation but haven't found the proper one. It comes with a set of Dayton wire wheels. They are the 60 spoke and mounted with OK tires that hold air. I've lived a long time and this is my last car to sell. No time or energy to finish this one. The car is very solid and I believe a good candidate for a restoration without a lot of additional cost.On Nov-10-14 at 07:50:54 PST, seller added the following information: The car like most Jags of this vintage tends to mark its territory. I had the cam cover gaskets replaced and it help but it still leaks. I have new front disc rotors and a set of new shocks. There is a lot of literature including books by Thorley and the Jag factory repair manual.
