Vehicle Detail
This is an unrestored, original paint, rust free/no bondo car that needs complete restoration. It was a mid-year build, April 12, 1979 and delivered to Erie Miller Pontiac in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since all anniversary editions were built with the same options except motor/transmission, this one includes the W72 Pontiac 400 and M21 Muncie 4-spd. It is a PHS documented complete original car that includes all numbers matching drive train and correct date codes. (engine block, transmission, heads, rear end, intake, carburetor, body panels, etc) It includes the original owner’s manuals and build sheet. The odometer is messed up. (According to the notes in the owner’s manual, the last oil change was April 16, 1986 with 75,095 miles. Since I have receipts from the early 1990’s regarding parts, I would assume about 100,000. The engine has been professionally machined and I rebuilt it to original specifications. It includes a .030 over bore but all other components are correct original GM parts. I disassembled two other W72 motors and used whatever was needed to keep this a correct rebuild. That includes crank, rods, valley pan, oil pan, bolts, etc. I used new GM parts when they could be purchased. (water pump, sensors, etc.) The carburetor was professionally rebuilt and re-plated. I have either pictures or documentation of all tolerances. (ring gap, main & rod bearing, etc.) This included the final step to degree the cam. It is painted the correct GM corporate blue from Eastman. I have manually rotated the motor many times. It does not include brake-in oil or hasn’t been started. When I purchased the car, it had a blown motor. (the reason for the engine rebuild) Also, in the early 1990’s, one of the previous owners purchased many brand new GM parts and some used parts that were needed for a complete restoration. They are worth thousands of dollars today and are listed below and included with the car. I think all body panels include some type of dent. But, it is original rust free sheet metal. I did find one small rust spot in the trunk the size of a quarter. Other than that, no other rust has been found. Some of the new parts include 10th anniversary decals, new foam/seat covers including install located in plastic bags, carpet, Fisher T-top weather stripping, front and rear fascia, and front & rear foilers. The following items are brand new in the manufacturer package: GM p/n 20178342 – RH, cover lift off glass for Fisher hatch GM p/n 20178343 – LH, cover lift off glass for Fisher hatch GM p/n 20125618 – weather strip, roof rail lift off for Fisher hatch (Qty 2.0) GM p/n 2015400 – sealing strip, lift off panel for Fisher hatch (Qty 2.0) GM p/n 20176024 – RH, T-top weather strip for Fisher hatch GM p/n 20176025 – LH, T-top weather strip for Fisher hatch GM p/n 3069776 – RH, Fisher T-top handle GM p/n 3069777 – LH, Fisher T-top handle GM p/n 9612538 – RH, outer side glass sealing weather strip w/o chrome trim molding GM p/n 9612539 – LH, outer side glass sealing weather strip w/o chrome trim molding GM p/n 914009 – LH, front parking light, white GM p/n 914010 – RH, front parking light, white GM p/n 10001246 – radio plate GM p/n 3071344 – interior T-top upper garnish molding GM p/n ???????? – front nose GM p/n 10010503 – RH, lower grille GM p/n 10010504 – LH, lower grille GM p/n 10004176 – Rear bumper cover, fascia GM p/n 10006866 – LH, front fender spoiler GM p/n 1000686? – RH, front fender spoiler GM p/n ???????? – T-top covers from Buz Post Pontiac Walker p/n 21598 – muffler (Qty 2.0) Walker p/n 43821 – exhaust extension including tip Walker p/n 43822 – exhaust extension including tip Walker p/n 43745 – exhaust over axle extension Walker p/n 43744 – exhaust over axle extension Other new parts include the following: New silver carpet from Paddock West Silver armrest (both LH & RH) from Ames New seat covers and foam from Classic Industries (including install from local shop) New rear fender foilers from Year One New heater core from Year One Radiator reconditioned from local radiator shop New 10th Anniversary decal set from Phoenix Graphix I’ve owned the car since 2008.
