Vehicle Detail
This 1965 Chevrolet Impala was the flag ship of the new design for the 1965 Chevy line up, nearly 50 years ago! This Impala, 50 years old next year, is a charming vehicle from its stance, size, and rumble of the strong 283 V-8 motor in it. This Impala does start, idle, and run. However, when you go to start it, it does take 3-5 "clicks" or turns on the ignition, it may be a weak battery/starter, but it does start every time. The transmission shifts perfectly normal in and out of all gears, and does not slip when in gear. The speedometer, odometer, oil, generator, hot, and cold sensors/gauges/lights all work. The gas gauge is not hooked up to the aftermarket gas tank, but would work if hooked up. The lights, bright lights, interior dash lights, vanity lights, turn signals, floor lights, brake lights, all work as intended. The interior dash light dimming feature works as intended as well. Windshield wipers work as designed. The Windshield washer fluid does not spray, but you can hear the motor working, I have tried to fix it, but cannot seem to track down the error, but all components are there. This past winter I took the seats and carpet out for a restoration job. The seats have been re-upholstered using items from Classic Restoration for the 1965 Chevy Impala 2dr Hardtop Coupe. When I took the seats and carpet out, I was surprised to find an extremely solid floor pan area, with only one small hole going through the floor pan. I could not fit two fingers through it, for a size reference. The entire floor pan area has been neutralized from rust and has been painted/rubberized on the interior side to prevent further damage from being done. I took off all the door panels and cleaned them as well. There has also been new sound insulation pads installed under the carpet. All of the windows and locks work as intended as well. I had a new modern radio put it that can play MP3 players, AM/FM radio. I got a radio small enough that it is concealed in the stock glove compartment, so you may play music from your Ipod, iPhone, Droid, etc without having a modern radio exposed! There are 2 new speakers in the back as well as a new deck liner for the rear speakers. Details photos of restoration are available, upon request. The brakes, power steering, electric choke, transmission all work fine. I put new plugs, wires, cap, distributor, oil, oil filter, transmission fluid, radiator fluid, power steering fluid, and belts on this car this summer. The lighter is not hooked up in this car, but would probably work. The car has been driven less than 600 miles this year. Heater, blower, and vents all work appropriately. The car does leak a little oil, radiator fluid, and power steering fluid, but the amount is so minor that I may have to put fluids in it once a month, if that. But there are some small leaks, nothing major though. The wood grain interior is in good condition. The dash is in good condition as well. The door armrests do have some splitting/cracking, but are in good condition for being nearly 50 years old! The original Fischer Body seat belts are still in good working condition. I have a brand new weatherstrip piece for the trunk, just have not had time to install it, which is one reason why I am selling the car, lack of time to enjoy it. Here are the things I know that do need work/replaced/looked into: ~ Horn - It works sometimes - perhaps a loose wire/bad ground. ~ Parking Brake - Not connected - may work - the cable is there. ~ I am not sure if there are supposed to be fog lights on this car or not, but the bulb that is required for the turn signals can double as turn signals and fog lights on modern cars. Once again, I am not sure if the 65 Impalas had fog lights or not, but feel like this should be mentioned. ~ Headliner - This car has the ORIGINAL headliner in it - It is in great condition, besides right above the passenger/driver head area, it is torn all the way across. In order to save the original head liner, I was going to have it sewn back together instead of having it totally replaced, but have not had time to do it. ~ Some chrome/aluminum trim pieces/bezels may be slightly bent, nothing spectacular, see photos for more details. ~In one photo you will see a typical USB end by a blemish on the hood. I used a USB cable so you can see the relevant size - not too big. It is on the hood, on the drivers side about in the middle between the front of the car and the windshield. I am not sure how this happened, but it is like a rust "pimple" developed on the hood. I talked to a body shop and they said you can take out the material, fill it in, and paint it - basically like a cavity is how they said it can be remedied. ~The frame is rusted, please see pictures for more details. It is not anything that is keeping this car from being on the road way as I have drove it the past two calendar years with no problems. Overall, the car is in decent-good running-reliable condition. There are some things that need brought back up to speed, but there is nothing this car NEEDS as it sits. This is a GREAT opportunity to buy into an already running, reliable, 1965 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop Coupe! You will also get the ORIGINAL owner's manual, a die-cast replica of the car (same color and features) as well as misc. spare parts I have collected. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! We are starting the car at .99 cents, with a low reserve of only $4,500.00 Please do not hesitate to make an offer, ask questions, request more pictures, or anything else that will assist you in your quest in finding the perfect 65' Chevy! A clean Ohio title is in hand as well. The car also includes 2 sets of keys. The VIN/serial numbers on the frame and engine are both clean, however they do not appear to match. If you have any questions, please ask!
