Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible that needs someone with the time to finish up it's restoration. If you are looking for a car that you can do a little final assembly and cleanup, this is the one for you. Here is a little history of the car. My father and I got this car in 1985 and did a full frame off rebuild/restoration. This included new floors, floor braces, rebuilt engine, rebuilt trans. all chrome redone, new interior. Our plan was to drive the car and have some fun with it. We completed this in 1989. When we completed the restoration I reset the odometer to 0. We have only put 2575 miles on the car in 25 years! We drove the car in several parades, weddings and car cruises and the occasional joy ride. The factory options this car HAS are: V8 engine, Automatic transmission, Power brakes, Electric wipers, front and rear accessory bumper guards, and the original Continental Kit. Currently installed is an after-market AM/FM cassette radio. I also changed exhaust from single to dual. About 2003, the lacquer paint we had used back in the 80s began to crack. I was busy remodeling my house at this time, so the car was put on the back burner and stuck in the garage. As it sat for the next seven years the paint deteriorated dramatically and I decided the only thing to do was repaint it. In about 2011 I dismantled the whole car. Stripped it back to bare metal and repainted it with basecoat/clearcoat. I have gotten it back to the state it is in now, but have even less time now and too many other projects begging for my attention. I started the car up when I cleaned it to take these pictures. This was the first time in several years that it had been started. She cranked right up and ran pretty good once she warmed up, considering the gas in the tank is probably 10 years old. I took a little video on my phone of it running. I could possibly email it if you would like to see it. I also am including a set of floor mats, the original AM radio (push button), 3 extra wheel covers and all of the manuals I have (shop, assembly, owners), and a couple of boxes with some miscellaneous parts and hardware. Here is a list of things that I know of that are still needed, most of this due to it sitting unused for awhile: New Top, Top Pump, Carpet, LH Door Glass is cracked, wheels painted, brakes serviced (possible rebuild on master cylinder), carburetor rebuild, charging system checked (gen light is staying on), Good tune up (new plugs, points, etc). Some of the chrome has a few pit marks nothing to bad (except the hood bird and hood V); but these are things that can be done one at time if you are a tinkerer. If you have any questions or would like more photos, let me know and I will send them to you. Thanks for looking!
