Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1951 Buick Roadmaster 72R 4-door sedan project...I have recently moved and am not able to take this project with me to finish. Vehicle currently is not running, brakes are good and it rolls fine in neutral. This Roadmaster lived it's entire life until 2010 in Goodland, KS and still has the dealer tag on the trunk from their local Buick dealer. Clear Kansas title. This vehicle was only driven by me around my neighborhood and was awaiting a new paint job/interior until August, 2011 when Hurricane Irene hit my region and my house was destroyed (along with the original bench seats, which were inside the house at the time) and the car did get flooded with water for about an hour. After which, I put the Buick in dry indoor storage. The water was well below the dash, and the electrical system was not affected...see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7qmjuzNOeA&list=UUObW_xXsfCdSOzSDf7DrmXQ The body and panels are very straight and in excellent shape, some very slight surface rust underneath where the rocker trim was installed. There is a small rust-through spot on the passenger side floor pan but it's not large enough to warrant a complete replacement. There is a dime-sized hole in the driver's side rocker from backing into a railroad tie which should be patched...but I was not going to bother replacing the rockers as they are pretty solid. My intention was to convert the trim to the 1952-style sweepspear, and all the trim from 1952 is included and is in pristine condition, including all of the vertical window trim seen on the 1952 models between the upper and lower beltlines as well as a complete set of Buick aftermarket window shades in brand new condition. The grill included is also a 1952 as is the 2 front bumper guards (there are some very subtle differences between the 2 years). The grill bar is not cracked and the chrome is in fair shape overall but not show quality. One rear window has been removed because it was cracked and since been lost, but one can be made by any auto glass shop for cheap using the other side window as a pattern (I was quoted $40 for the job). The starter has been rebuilt and functions, the engine spins over, rebuilt generator, and the distributor has been rebuilt as well but the points need to be adjusted. The oil filter is brand new. Some restoration has already been completed and most of the engine decals are already installed. So here's what comes with the car...an extremely rare Buick power steering setup with the power steering box, fluid reservoir and bracket, and power steering pump with bracket. This setup was only installed in 50% of the Buick Roadmaster's produced in one year (1952) and is highly desirable and rarer than rare. This setup comes with a set of gaskets for the pump as well as a rebuild kit for the power steering box...the kit for the box did get wet and is kinda dirty. New sill plates, "King Bee"-style aftermarket mirrors, new coil, parking brake indicators (2) from a 1952, a steering wheel from a 1954 Buick with a mint "Power Steering" horn button, new badges, 2 spare jacks, both bench seats from a '52 Roadmaster, complete set of door panels from a '52 as well as the originals, new gas tank sender, new pedals, new door wind seals, complete hubcap sets from both 1951 and 1952, a few quarts of POR-15 and 50 sq. ft. of Dynamat, and tons of other spare small parts. Everything is here to finish this car (and then some) as a mild custom with little effort and no need for part-sourcing. Please look, many more photos here:http://s1241.photobucket.com/user/lcl7wrkr/library/ This vehicle is located in the town of Buckland, MA and I am still paying rent on the barn storage space. I currently have moved to Maine. I would be okay with negotiating storage for this vehicle for a short time (November) until transport can be arranged as I know it can take a while. Vehicle is now for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end this auction early.
